Re: Saturn Core Hardware issue? SDRAM?

I recently built a Dual RAM MiSTer. I have been very much loving using it!! My issue, when loading the Saturn Dual RAM core, my MiSTer is locking up. The Single RAM core runs great. From reading some posts, it seemed to point to a bad RAM module. All hardware is new, purchased this month. Both sticks are v3.0 128mb. I disassembled the MiSTer and r...

Re: Saturn Core Hardware issue? SDRAM?

You can also try other cores that make use of dual ram like dual ram version of the PSX core or the Smash T.V. core (no sound). If they work it is more an issue with the Saturn core then with the ram.

Re: Problem with NTSC VIC-20 Core

In NTSC, the VIC-20 core is no longer functioning correctly. Many games lock up when they shouldn't. Simple illustration: Dig Dug cartridge. Although the code is NTSC, it locks up in NTSC fairly quickly after booting up. It functions well in PAL. Somewhere there's a timing problem. VIC20_20200504.rbf is the latest version that doesn't do this. It ...

Re: Some Games Not Working [Solved]

Most games don't work on the Atari ST core for me. I have it set at 512 or 1mb Tos: tos102us Chipset, ST or STE But games rarely load. Sometimes a game will load, but the overwhelming majority don't. I wish I could get it to work better than it does. Most games for the ST came from Europe so from my experience it is better to use a PAL TOS Rom. 1....

Hello, after completing some school education a long time ago. Loaded Spellicopter without any problems, however Designasaurus only showed white garbage icons before crashing. I'm not sure what that is. I've used several different types of controllers on the other MiSTer (all with Reflex Adapt) including the same Brawler64 controllers and they worked without going through a registration process. With some games I do have to define buttons (and BTW I always or usually have to redefine the buttons each time even though I ...

Re: ST-V Core?

The ST-V hardware was identical to the Saturn, it had the same ammount of RAM. The difference was that the ST-V games were stored on ROM-Cartridges instead of CD-ROM. Any potential ST-V core would have to change the CD-ROM interface to the hardware responsible for reading the data from the cartridge.

Hi! I just came across the Mars Matrix core for mister. Well....I don't know the arcade board, but I would be surprised if the timings of the game were corect like on mister. Everything seems to be way to fast and the game speed even seems to vary... Is this a known issue? I would be surprised if the speed of this game is not correct. The game run...

I set up a new MiSTer today and added N64 to downloader.ini and updated and the controls weren't working correctly. Re: have arcade content download to USB0

Arcade games should go into the folder games/mame oin your USB drive. Update_all will take care of this as well unless you have a folder games on the root of your USB drive. The mra files are still located in the _Arcade folder of your SD card.

Re: Using a 10TB Hard Drive?

Without the Saturn and PSX libraries, the entire game librairies of all console cores currently on MiSTer can fit in less than 300GB, from my rough estimate (my setup is missing some PCE CD games I think, so I don't know for sure). With the Saturn I'm not sure, but it's probably well under 1TB, assuming CHDs (dunno if the Saturn core actually supp...

So outside of SNAC, it sounds like the best possible controller for MiSTer is Nintendo's own NSO N64 controller for Switch, right?

You can also use a USB adapter and an original controller.

He mentioned that in this releasy only the monochrome bios is supported, I would interpret this as an colour will come but getting monochrome to a proper state has priority. Both share the same CPU and this seems by far to be the hardest part.

Re: MiSTer Nuked-MD MegaDrive Core

You can do things with an FPGA simulation that need an unreasonable ammount of raw processing power in software. Within an FPGA you can let the chips run in parallel like it was on the original software. Nothing you emulate in software will run in parallel as on the original hardware and in some cases this limits the accuracy of the emulation. You...

There are certainly many (MANY!) latency benefits...I was referring purely to accuracy. I'm not sure who first started the trope about FPGA being more accurate "because it's hardware instead of software", but if I ever meet them in a dark alley, they shall pay. LOL As a broad statement this is as false as the claim that FPGA is the same ...

Thank you for the replies! N64 recent version seems to need unstable MiSTer. What you are describing are Jotego’s cores in beta. You need his Patreon key in your games folder to unlock them. Maybe you had a previous key and need to update? Good point! I should check his Patreon for an update, I suppose. I thought after putting in the necessary key...

Re: Is the Atari Falcon 030 possible in MiSTer?

Back in the 90's Moore's Law was truly in effect. So transistor counts were going up exponentially. An interesting piece of trivia: The original Motorola 68000 was named after its transistor count (68,000). Unfortunately the 68030 has a transistor count of 273,000, making it 4 times larger than the 68000. The 68040 has 1,200,000 transistors making...
