Not yet. This is a big milestone though.

I've had several requests to restock so will get some more boards on order.
MottZilla wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:02 pm Have you thought about having a cable to go from the VGA port directly to the GPIO port, negating the need for the I/O board? I think it's a neat idea having an easy solution to use the MiSTer with old TVs without RGB support.
I have another idea for this :)

Re: Issue with Syndicate Mega CD FMV

I'd expect PAL copies of these games wouldn't have had skippy FMV but I also don't know how much the accurate PAL clock will help. I'll report back later.

I can confirm with the PAL clock, stuff like the "Sega" jingle on Sonic 1 is much lower in pitch and a bit slower, which instantly sounded right to my PAL abused ears.

Apologies for the lack of updates, these have finally all been assembled, tested, calibrated, packed and will be shipping over the next few days.

Thank you all for your patience.

I hadn't realised that. Makes sense why that works then.

I was mislead by pin 9 on MiSTer being 5v (when jumpered as such) which I've always used.

Re: Let's talk about Scart

I also had to do a lot of searching to find this information. I was surprised a lot of people recommend using a MiST SCART cable which does NOT have the same pinout on the VGA connector. So how come it works perfectly with every core I've tested, apart from the ST? I don't really know because MiST uses pin 14 to output 5v for AV switching where Mi...

Re: Let's talk about Scart

I'm a Trinitron user and I use 75ohm resistors to GND as otherwise the colours are totally blown out. Other than that I use a 180ohm resistor from 5v to blanking as per any other scart cable I have. This cable works perfectly with any other CRT or LCD I've plugged it into as well. I also had to do a lot of searching to find this information. I was ...

Re: Issue with Syndicate Mega CD FMV

Upon further testing, I've also noticed that the declared internal resolution for Mega CD PAL appears to be wrong (set to the same as NTSC), so I'm not sure the Mega CD core was fully built for PAL...it looks like it tries to run PAL titles with NTSC framing and internal clocks but PAL refresh. None of the cores I've looked at really are built wit...

I don't know about 99% of users, at least for this core.

A poll would be handy to gauge this.

Re: Direct Video Output

As I've said before, I'm not using direct video, I'm using the VGA port on the I/O board. Direct video requires each core to support it and I can't test that as I have no HDMI to VGA adapter. If it isn't working but other cores are, I'd assume direct video either isn't implemented in the core or there's a bug (if your 100% sure on your settings). H...

Just to add to this, I'm not sure it will help you. 59.18 isn't an unusual frequency for 15khz capable displays so I'd be more inclined to believe you have other issues.

Do any other cores work on this display? What is it?

Re: Would a Super Game Boy core/function be possible?

Is it really even appropriate for SGB functionality to be in the Game Boy core long-term? I know it's typical of Game Boy emulators to have it, but wouldn't it be be more accurate for the SGB functionality to be moved to the SNES core instead? After all, the Super Game Boy is really an add-on for the SNES (like the BS-X), and not a true Game Boy. ...

If it's a known problem that can't be fixed, then: 1. Why does he say it will be fixed in the next version and tell me to buy that one next when it comes out? As I said above, it can be fixed, but requires a special build of MiSTer as Sorg refuses to allow it to the main build. Again, it's not a fault of the design! 3. Why does the problem not occ...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

As far as I know there is no adapter that will produce perfect composite with MiSTer. You can't fault antonio for trying to support multiple FPGA boards, propose a solution to MiSTer that works, and getting turned down. Different people will have different preferences. Maybe once more adapters get made there will be an accepted common solution in ...

This really isn't about semantics or how many times the word "replication" was used. I can confirm that at least the genesis, snes, nes and megacd cores are shifted much further to the left than my real hardware cutting off quite a lot and giving a large border on the right.

Output is the same on at least 5 TVs I've tested this on and I'm using the IO board VGA out.

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

The issue is so minor that 90% of people would be ok with it as it is. People are used to seeing it in composite video so I don't think most would see any different. It's a well known phenomenon called "dot crawl". For a technical explanation it's where chroma and luma overlap on the edge of their waveform and the TV can't translate it so...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

To solve this I have created a circuit that reads the VSYNC signal and if found a clock there overrides the crystal clock (NTSC or PAL) present on the adapter and uses the generated by the FPGA. But this is not magic. This requires changes on all cores to generate this clock on VSYNC. This will solve the problem converting moving artifacts to stat...

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

So are those issues only specific to composite and not S-video? Yes. The issue is related to the synchronization of luma and chroma separation. The crawl or "shimmer" is the result of the edge of either signal overlapping. Lots and lots of devices have the same issue to the point where TVs had filters integrated to try and reduce the phe...
