Sleeps aren't a particularly elegant solution but I think it should be sufficient for all SAM is trying to do. Yup, updated well after your post. After the zips failed, I put some unpacked ROMs in /media/fat/games/NES/fds, and it failed. After changing to /media/fat/games/NES/famidis and updating the ini it worked. So at least in my test, it seems like at least for me the "fds" exclusion did cause it to be ignored for unpacked files. Upgraded my scripts, attached for anyone that wants them. Now they put symlinks in the root instead of moving RBFs, and leave the _Console folder entirely intact. This allows MiSTer_SAM to work, among other things. Just edit the script to do the cores you want "favorited" on the homescreen.

Did you by chance try starting PSX this way, while it's in the _Unstable folder? I found the same thing, but that's because SAM is looking for it in _consoles. I can successfully start in single core mode from terminal.
