HDMI for sound only?
Is hdmi the best way to get audio from the MiSTer? I currently have a toslink cable going to a dac which is good, but I may be able to get a sound bar for cheap which will fit into my arcade cabinet and has a hdmi port. Is it possible to have the image come from the vga port to a crt, and then have the sound come from the hdmi on the DE-10 to a sou...

Re: Made my Own VGA to Scart cable, audio buzzing!!
Maybe you have heard of this already but you could try google "ground loop" and try out the known steps for addressing this issue. A friend of mine is a sound engineer and it seemed to me that alot of time was spent hunting the dreaded buzz known as the "ground loop". I followed the advice of others in these forums and got a min...

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores
I have the MiSTer in a Arcade cabinet and there is nothing worse than when someone excitedly puts in their initials and asks if they will stay there and I have to say no. Of course once saving works on all the cores no one will get near the high scores table. It will just be my initials all the way down :) By the way, the Tetris arcade game display...

There is a genesis homebrew called Matrix Digital Rain that I boot my MiSTer into instead of the menu core.

Re: I hope they put more support with some hacks.
Alot of the bootlegs or romhacks from the smokemonster set for neo geo boot up into a service menu with crosshatch and ram checker etc. Some of them boot up into a garbled mess of green icons and letters. Some of them work.

I found a Hama 3 way scart switch that works perfectly so I guess the Banbridge 3way is just a faulty unit.

Re: DVD Player Core?
My fault, maybe I was not clear enough. I have no intention of watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture :) However, I might actually be interested in looking at the treatment it got on DVD. The menus, menu transitions, special features, menu music and sfx, hidden content etc. I even might take a look at some awful pan and scan while I slowly shake my...

Re: DVD Player Core?
Mentions of Kodi or all in one set top boxes evoke a kind of messy, convoluted stretched out thing which I think people recoil from in terms of the MiSTer. Maybe I am mistaken but there is a real purity to it at the moment which people might feel protective about. Some of the reactions to the recent retro arch news point to this. However I do think...

Re: DVD Player Core?
Maybe its just me but I think it would be immeasurably cool to be able to load up an iso of Jaws or Halloween with the menus and special features etc. on an old tv from the MiSTer. Would it be a difficult thing to do relative to the console/arcade stuff?

DVD Player Core?
Would it be possible to have a fpga core of a dvd player which loads up iso files? It would be cool to load up some old discs and see them in rgb on a crt.

Re: Scart sync problem?
Yes thanks for the recommendation :) I tried to go cheap. I found a forum thread where people were able to modify the 5 way version of this switch and was hoping someone had experience doing the same with this one. I'm going to get the hydra or maybe the otaku switch. I have also realised that the image is dimmer from this switch across the board. ...

Scart sync problem?
Hello, I am hoping someone who knows scart well can help me troubleshoot a problem I have encountered. So I had the mister hooked up through the io board to a Sony trinitron with a vga2scart cable and had zero problems. However, I wanted to add other consoles too and use a scart switch so they could all be connected to the RGB scart port. I did som...

I have the dac setup mentioned above and the popping is only audible if I put my ear right up to the speakers.
