Re: VSCALE_BORDER not taken into consideration ?
Hi Sorge ! Actually, unless I'm mistaken, it's not applied in any core ATM ? I'm trying to make the DOS (or SNES, Neo Geo, Genesis) core use a smaller form factor -- 5x is too much for me, I want to stick to 4x as the Amiga core, easier on my eyes, less blocky... The picture is closer to what I used to have on my small TV back in my childhood when ...

Hi, yet another MiSTer MINI purchase here. It's brilliant. Perfect form factor (2 layers instead of 3 on the original MiSTer with IO + USB addons). Superb options : HIFI audio Dac, RTC, Floppy buzzer for the Amiga (love it, I asked for it to be added), completely silent Noctua fan (I asked Antonio to set it at 3.3V), great db9 port supporting sever...

Re: Games switching to interlaced mode : scaling factor not restored properly
Bump ! :-) No one has this issue at all ? What happens is some games get stuck in (I think) 3x scaling mode instead of 4x after temporarily switching to interlaced resolution back to normal non-interlaced low-res. I use a regular integer scaling mode. As I said, titles triggering it are : Uridium 2, Shadow of the Beast 3, Lionheart, Bill's Tomato G...

Re: i2c2oled (little brother of tty2oled)
Hmm... Any discussion with Sorge to bring this upstream eventually ? -- would apply too to the buzzer used to mimic the Amiga floppy drive sound, which Antonio implemented too. I love it, it adds so much to the experience -- at least if you grew up with those ! I'm even frustrated when games load too quickly

Re: ao486 wish-list
Hi !
Apart from some more speed I'd vote for a Gravis Ultrasound implementation. It would be fantastic for the demoscene.
An FPGA implementation of the MT-32 but as the mt32-pi is officially supported, it must mean it's kinda out of scope
Of course, I'm just dreaming aloud I'm already very happy with the current state of the core.

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future
That's obviously very personal, depending on one's childhood etc. but I would love if any of those was implemented : - FPGA implementation of the Gravis Ultrasound (for the PC demoscene) and of the Roland MT-32 for the ao486 core :) - Thomson MO5 / TO7 ("plan informatique pour tous", those machines were in all schools in France in the mid...

Any 9-Pin -> USB adapter recommendation ? Especially one working properly with the 1000 Hz polling mode ?Chris23235 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 5:41 am If somebody plans to use a 9-Pin2USB adapter anyway I would recommend the ArcadeR joystick

Re: Recommended USB Joystick (for multiple cores)?
Is the Dual Action the same as the F310 ? I used to have one and it didn't seem to work well with the 1000 Hz polling ?
But indeed, the F310 is a favorite : cheap & sturdy, great D-pad.

I'm wondering if the Noctua at 3v is silent. At full speed it (this very fan) was very noisy on my previous MiSTer build.

@Stupid Dufus : thanks for the reply
(1) Do you use the "official" DE10 power supply ? (the US one provided in the kit)
(2) Hmm... Interesting... I'm afraid of frying something, does anyone sell one by any chance ?

Re: Games switching to interlaced mode : scaling factor not restored properly
Hi ! Thanks for your reply ! Did you try Uridium 2, SOTB 3, Lionheart, Bill's Tomato Game, or multiball modes in flippers ?
All four incorrectly switch back to a non-interlaced mode.
Hmm, actually, I really don't want to get a 5x scaling factor -- I prefer a smaller a finer picture
cheers

Re: Games switching to interlaced mode : scaling factor not restored properly
Hi ! I've given a try again and this issue still occurs.
For instance, try to play Lionheart : the ingame scaling factor is still incorrect and the picture is way too small ; same as Bill's Tomato for instance.
Do you guys & gals also have this issue ?

Sorry if it was asked already. My scanlines don't play well with RTG modes unfortunately. Is it possible to have a distinct filter for AGA and RTG modes ? Or at least disable it for RTG modes ?

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p
Yep, I tried overdrive setting, from -2 to +2... It does not seem to improve the situation. There is massive ghosting with the +1/+2 values. (visible when dragging a screen for instance) I really tend to think this monitor was not meant for this use case. But to such an extent this is surprising. I'll post my mist.ini ASAP. Also I'm gonna test this...

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p
I'm not sure, I can test a bit later. But FYI even simple vertical scrollings in console cores in 60 Hz (i.e. The Addam's Family / Genesis) are little weird -- as if lines were partially disappearing. It's as if there were tons of remanence while this is a 1 ms screen. And yep : integer scaling enabled !

Re: Scaling artifact in 1080p
Thank you so much, I've been mistaken for quite a long time -- I always thought integer scaling applied to both vertical & horizontal axis. Regarding the scrolling issues. This is not a lack of smoothness -- which is more or less noticeable depending in the game or screen. It's that, the picture really seem to be different when moving. As if so...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/
I think there are 2 différent issues after all. The distorted characters (visible on my both screens in hires) shows that the same letter is displayed differently depending on where it is on the screen. The scrolling issue happens only with my new gaming LCD in low res. It gives the unpleasant feeling the image changes when it is moving. Like partl...

Re: Major scaling artifact in 1080p :-/
Hmm, so it means the strange scrolling is unrelated and due to the screen :/ some lines seem to "dance" when there is a scrolling and nope it's not tearing.

Scaling artifact in 1080p
Howdy there ! I recently had to change my monitor and got a pretty expensive 1080p Iiyama monitor. I mainly use the Minimig core. I quickly had the feeling something was wrong with scrollings -- it was not as smooth as with my former cheaper monitor. I had the feeling some lines were inconsistently displayed, stuff was disappearing when scrolling....

Re: Second Reality Demo
Yep, there are probably 4 or 5 typical sound profiles :/. I guess games that had protracker-like soundtracks were really better with a gus, though. My memory of dos gaming around 1995 ? Pinball games for instance. They do not sound right with midi or adlib tracks but are downsampled / badly mixed with a soundblaster. That's probably my Amiga bias t...

Re: Second Reality Demo
Well, I'm not a specialist. I just remember that during a given period of time of the DOS era, games supporting it had a very significantly better sound quality versus software mixing -- which also didn't waste CPU cycles. I was shocked when playing Extreme Pinball and SB16 mode for instance that it sounded really low-fi -- worse than Amiga sounds ...

Hi ! Would be happy to donate quite a significant amount of money to fund a Gravis Ultrasound implementation But all those developments are driven by passion and the amount of work actually put into them couldn't be funded.
But well, I'm suggesting a Patreon/bounty, just in case
