Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Made some progress on my batch script tonight, and I think it’s coming along well! Does anyone have any opinions about the following: For default I'd say 3 is fine, realistically the user should be inputting what they need from it either way as every game is different. Maybe stick a warning that the user should excercise some basic common sense. F...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Made some progress on my batch script tonight, and I think it’s coming along well! Does anyone have any opinions about the following: 1) What should be the default padding/extra space per VHD? I was going to default to making them an extra 3MB, but also allow the user to specify their own amount of extra space. 2) What are the largest games for DOS...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Is there a guide on manually adding games or is what italiangrandma said earlier in the thread best way? I would love to throw the Dangerous Dave series on here. You can follow my guide if you want as that will work. I am also trying to work on a simple, Windows based script that will automate most of the process and make it easier, but I am not a...

Hey all,

Which version of Doom is in this collection? I'm not seeing Thy Flesh Consumed in the episode list.

When did you download Doom Ultimate? The VHD got updated after the initial pack release.

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Something I noticed is that these settings only flip once from within DOS and I need to reset the the core for them to work again. Not something I spent a lot of time on though so I may be wrong and I usually reset my core anyway because of the single game VHD's I use. I haven't had any real issues developing DOSContainer. No worries. And yes, the...

Ok, so in a nutshell: This is not a problem on my side; it is cumbersome for everybody, correct?

As far as I know, yes. It is certainly possible that you and I are both missing something, but I don’t think so.

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection / PS3 Controller Support?

Still unclear exactly what is going on. A ton of DOS games don't have any kind of joystick/gamepad support. Others have it default to off and you need to configure something to turn it on. Arguably the 0mhz collection should do this for you, but maybe they haven't. I know it certainly includes many games that lack joystick support altogether. When...

Flynnsbits's answer from a year or 2 ago is still as valid as it was when he posted it. VESA won't work on this core in its current state. Where did he say that? Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Oh yes, I wouldn't use anything over a 1000mhz if you don't have a fan. Disclamer is in the script as well if I recall. With a fan the temp increase at 1.2ghz was around 1.5 degree on my setup after 2 hour. There is no voltage increase though so it's still very safe but I wouldn't recommand it without a fan. The expected gain in DosBox at 1.2ghz i...

Re: VESA 2.0 Under DOS

Has anybody been able to get Rayman (or Rayman Forever) working? I've tried different combinations of BIOS and using UNIVBE (v6.3) but I either have a corrupted screen ("F" and "W" characters) or it hangs at the Rayman text loading screen with a blinking cursor... I've tried Rayman as well and I see the same behavior. I haven't...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

If you want to try it out it's over there, it's a drop in scripts and you can even combine both into one script. The script(s) will turn itself off when the Mister is turned off. Reboot will keep it on if I remember correctly: https://github.com/coolbho3k/MiSTer-Overclock-Scripts I was literally just about to ask you about this! So for DOSBox, I r...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

I think they are referencing the fact that there is already a SCUMMVM port for MiSTer that works great, similarly to a DOSBox setup, it also runs on the ARM side 😄 Oh yeah, I already know the ScummVM port exists, I have it installed too :D I was more just saying I’m unfamiliar with a lot of the point and click games since I haven’t played many (ot...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

One thing I forgot to mention is that this pack will probably take a while (though I do have someone else helping) due to the fact that we are going to target the AO486 core first in all cases. So we'll only add games to the pack as we find good ones that will not work in the core :) That said, if anyone knows of some good games that have already b...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Agreed! I think it would be a great supplementary pack to have. I’ve also considered that maybe eventually I could do a ScummVM pack as well, but I’m not as familiar with point and click games so the interest isn’t super strong for me at the moment. Maybe after I get to a good place with DOS games :) I think they are referencing the fact that ther...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Great idea! I'm all in for a packk like that! Especially since we have the ARM OC script that can make Dosbox run much much faster. I usually daily drive my ARM at 1.2ghz and the DDR3 OC at 1050mhz. It's great for anything Arm related, game loading, update all, ScumVM it's awesome. Oh really?! I didn’t even know about that! I am definitely going t...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Maybe the games that don't seem to work well in 0mhz but do work well in DosBox (its all running on the same fpga/cpu in the end), can be looked at to determine why? I'm also a "want it all" kinda guy, but i hate overlap in these projects too. I don't need 17 versions of Day Of The Tentacle, i don't care if it runs in dosbox or on the ao...

Options are a great thing to have, wherever an FPGA solution is not available or working well enough (yet). I also appreciate the option to use ScummVM on MiSTer. Agreed! Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

I've been working on adding some games to the 0MHz collection for the AO486 core and I've run into a few games that don't work well with the core. Thusfar, I've found that these problem games have worked just fine in DOSBox for MiSTer, so I've been thinking about working towards putting together a MiSTer DOSBox pack at some point and I guess I want...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection / PS3 Controller Support?

While this sounds like a good workaround, I do not understand why it does not work as intended by the core (which seems to support various joysticks). But I will definitely try this! I think a lot of it comes down to how the original game sees joysticks. Back then, we didn't have controllers with all of these buttons and different protocols were u...

Here are some instructions for using the core's Button/Key Remap feature: https://github.com/0mhz-net/0mhz-collection/issues/19#issuecomment-2025660853 (scroll down to the last comment). Simply check the <mtime> on archive.org to know if an archive was updated and compare it with a locally saved data (in XML form). Modification time would work as well, yes — I am not familiar with the APIs here, so I will leave the implementation to the ones actually writing the code 😄 Any idea about a special .vhd to store saves? Issues relating to the main collection- Both versions of Civilization run like molasses. :( The torrent is distributing borked files that fail CRC checks on export. I've wanted to play Rusty for awhile and tried it on the pc98 core, I got it going, but that core wasn't mature enough to play it right. So I moved over to the ms dos port of the game and ran into issues. I took the files and converted them into an iso and mounted it. It boots, shows the c-lab logo flawlessly and then immediately freezes on the ti...

At the moment it does require using the latest unstable MiSTer main file: https://github.com/0mhz-net/0mhz-collection/issues/19#issuecomment-2025660853 WHOOOOO !!!! Very good news, as it will be a much cleaner way of handling joystick support :) (even though JoyEmu were doing a decent job)...
