Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Level Select Issue [Solved]
you're correct, keeping A pressed down is enough, i just tried it on my Sonic and it works, the background turns sepia and the debug menu is shown.

personally i'd want to see a pci-e card for my pc that allows me to run cores locally on my OS, depending on how well things would work concerning input latency and such.

ROM's can't be linked for obvious reasons, if you're having trouble converting your games to NES2.0 you could use my utility which does require the nes2.0 database file, but can be downloaded from the link in the readme file.

if it's a dedicated monitor then it might have an OSD where you can adjust the picture for that specific resolution and refresh rate.

Re: Resize a VHD
what about creating a new bootable VHD and then copy the files over to the new VHD from the old one?
it seems expanding is less of an issue as shrinking, from a quick google i saw that vhdx files support compacting but that isn't the same as resizing.(shrinking in this matter)

Re: Controller Mappings Lost Every Cold Boot
Good to hear you got it working again!
You potentially could use Putty to connect to your MiSTer using the network and use the terminal to do things, if you've got it hooked up to the network that is.

Re: Controller Mappings Lost Every Cold Boot
If you've cleared the directory from all mappings and then restarted the core, reassigned the buttons and saved those settings it should create a new mapping file, is that file correctly saved?

Re: Controller Mappings Lost Every Cold Boot
when you map the controller in the core, do you save the settings when done?
if so you might want to check the mappings directory and delete some controller profiles manually that are not working and then restart that core and remap and save.

Re: How to Play a Nullmodem Link Game With Two MiSTers?
i'm not familiar with the game itself, but a lot of the games of that era also had IPX/SPX protocol support, if this game does as well, you could install that protocol under the network adapter?

Re: New 2022 PS1/2/3 Controllers by Retro Fighters and 8bitdo
My retrobit 2.4 wireless Saturn controller now is showing connection issues on a real Saturn. I'm only about 7 feet away. This controller has been getting less and less reliable- maybe I just got a mediocre one from a quality control standpoint. Interesting about that "C" button- I've had that issue too as well as had to replace the micr...

Re: MiSTer FPGA with an SSD
does the update all script still function correctly when using an SSD? it's not so much about it being an ssd but the location it's pointing to. (mounting entry) for me for example it stores the cores on: /media/fat and the games / bios / additionals are stored on: /media/usb0 if you run the update_all script and push up on the controller or keybo...

Re: Custom Joysticks All Have Same ID
it would be very hard to distinguish same devices on different usb ports for example: given two identical joypads, one on usb port 1 and the other on usb port 2. pad on port 1 used profile 3 and pad on port 2 uses profile 5. now swap these devices on the ports so pad 2 is now on port 1 and vice versa. how would you suggest the system would / could ...

Re: Custom Joysticks All Have Same ID
in that manner of regard i'd probably suggest to add mapping profiles to devices, so you could select different profiles for devices regardless of hid / pid or usb port.
maybe the possibility to assign default mappings to player ports, so that joyport 1 could have a different default mapping in regard to joyport 2?

Re: Custom Joysticks All Have Same ID
you're confusing one essential part, the identifying part is correct, same hid / pid is the same device, no way to differentiate any further. that it sees two devices that can operate apart from eachother without one device influencing the other is because these devices are each connected to their own usb port and the system / os can enumerate thro...

Re: NG.DEV ROM Ripping for MiSTer? (Gunlord & Kraut Buster)
i knew these games existed but never actually took the time to look at them, but Kraut Buster looks like a (cheap) knock off Metal Slug to me. the same goes for Gun Lord, which looks like they copied the Turrican / Last Resort formula and tried to combine that into one game? from my perspective as memorable as most SNK games were, these look like q...

Re: Why Are the Analog Images of All Cores Zoomed In on My MiSTer?
looks like an overscan issue, most tv sets have the ability to correct the image like you said.
older models typically had two small knobs / dials on the back where you could turn and see the image being stretched / shrunk.

Re: Any place to connect Disk / HDD LED on Analog IO board? (Checkmate Case)
what the diagram shows is correct, pin 1 is +5v and the other pin goes to GPIO connector pin 3 to complete that circuit and the DE10 controls it's on / off state. about the checkmate case i can't say anything about the LED part, but adding a resistor is to prevent the current from destroying the LED if it would exceed (typically 20mA) it's rated cu...
