Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
So I tried the 4x mode and set vsync to 60 instead of variable and now low res DOS games do work unscaled. Windows 3.1 and oregon trail deluxe however are still broken like this.

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
I have the dell on scaled vid mode 4 and the crt on unscaled vga. If I run the dell unscaled it displays the same image.

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
Yea, tried with 4x mode, no difference. I guess in Windows 95 the video drivers must work for DOS mode? In plain DOS 6.22 resolution changes corrupt the screen. Also, in win 3.1 or 3.11 the video drivers don't really display up to spec, 640x480 can do 32 million colors, but 1024x768 is only 256 and 1280x1024 is either 16 color or doesn't work, I fo...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
My CRT has been getting less and less reliable and finally won't show a picture anymore unfortunately. As a replacement, I have a 1280x1024 Dell flatscreen LCD monitor that has a VGA input. I have been playing with the settings and I got it to look like a real DOS machine. This might help those who still have working CRT monitors that want it to a...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
It's not going out of sync when the res changes. If it was going out of sync there would be a complete image cut in half or 8ths and there would be scrolling or jittering. It is displaying a mostly black static screen with some scattered yellow blobs. It's not the fault of the monitor. It's an A1962. My dell 19" does the same thing. I don't th...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
It's not integer scaling specific, that is a specific type of scaling that will shrink down to 1:1 or 1:x resolution displayed, that might make the image look better, though shrunk. the core only fully functions when video is output through the general scaler at a fixed resolution. It's not really and Interface IO issue, it's that the MiSTer video ...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
Yea, you're right, it's just not right forcing all resolutions into the scaler. It looks so good and clean unscaled until you try to swtch resolution.

Does the ao486 make use of the ADC port for sound recording? I did not see any info on this and only saw it being used for datasette input. Want to get the add on so I can record samples for trackers.

Some trackers like All Sound Tracker let you make PC speaker music. Can really push the limits of the bell.

Re: ao486 Drivers
I installed the sb16 3.1 drivers and got the same asp thing, noticed in github that asp is not implemented so removed it from dos startup files and the message goes away. That did not fix everything though. Wave and FM still didn't work. FM was listed as a voyetra in the drivers and i believe IRQ was conflicting. I removed sbpro2 startup lines and ...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
I have a few VGA monitors, mostly newer 17" ones. The one I've tried with MiSTer is SyncMaster 793df. What mister.ini settings are you using for non-scaled VGA? I'd like to try it myself.. Overall, I have a bit of an OCD when it comes to displays, so will stick with my DOS PC for now. Hopefully one day there will be solution for this core too...

SD2IECish?
Just wondering, would anything like the SD2IEC be feasible for the C64 and it's brethren? I use SID wizard a lot and running the .prg straight out of a directory is a lot more practical for storage purposes than trying to fit everything on a disk file. Especially since it does not overwrite files and there are multiple disks worth of instruments an...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
Oh I guess my post was confusing. You are correct. By perfect I mean the core boots and displays DOS commandline perfectly. However if I run anything that isn't that weird 720x400 DOS text resolution I get either a black screen or video garbage, and you are also right that VGA 200 or 240 should be scandoubled. I was just kind of speculating through...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
Ok, so I tested it out. It's weird because I forgot the scalerless mister menu is like 240p which doesn't display without scaling on this monitor. Anyhow from what I can see is the main DOS mode works perfectly fine, the text actually looks much better unscaled. Now my 31k monitor is a dell 1908fp which won't display lower than 640x480 at a specifi...

Re: VGA Output, Scalers, and CRTs
Well, the scaling is off because I'm running the 31k core on a 15k monitor with a custom expiramental video mode. It's not intended to actually function, but thanks to MiSTer it is magically working. I haven't tried native 31k on my 31k monitor because I use all sorts of cores on it that do need the scaling and it's easier to set the monitors nativ...

Re: [GUIDE] Direct MIDI IO for ST and Amiga Cores
I would just get an olimex and hack a usb cable unless you live in or near Poland. I was going to get another mist midi board from lotharek so I don't cannibalize my mist, but shipping from poland is 45 bucks added on. That black pcb looks pretty cool though. Can't wait to test out midi maze between mister and mist. That and start making tunes agai...

Re: Win 3.11 video modes
Oh hey, i got it. I forgot to update the boot.rom files with the new svga bios. Those drivers work great. Thanks! Definitely doesn't support those bit rates at those resolutions. So far 1024-256color, 800-32k and 640-32k work. Those appear to be the max. Staying in 640-32k.

I was trying all the standard win svga driver modes and even tried xga and that other 7 thing.
Awesome, thanks! Hope that does the trick.
Now I just need to figure out networking and a solid BBS client.

Win 3.11 video modes
So i saw the video card was updated and 95 has special drivers to work in higher res. Been trying win 3.11, but it doesn't seem to work in any of the base svga drivers. Anyone got a fix to use high color or svga on win 3.11?

Re: [GUIDE] Direct MIDI IO for ST and Amiga Cores
Saw the doc in the last folder with the IO wiring. I see the MiST MIDI board or pi hat are being used. interesting. Any wiring diagrams for attaching to the USB header to plug it in? I can't find the pinout for user io. Oh NM, read the .md use a usb 2.0 not 3.0 That makes it much easier, now to find a USB to hack up. lol. Thanks!

Re: MIDI ports
Right, I get USB midi adapters work with their emulated uart speeds, but I didn't see anything about direct midi uart like an addon board or user io adapter with tx rx going directly to the fpga. Something that actually compares to the Atari ST performance.

Any chance the MiSTer will ever gain MIDI ports like it's older cousin? It seems silly that I have two devices because of the one feature. Maybe use the user io usb port?

Re: SCUMMVM
All of them, digital sound effects like speech stay pretty solid only ocassionally glitching, but FM music and mt32 lag out and are constantly popping or stuttering. Shadows of darkness music gets it real bad. It's like the audio bit rate is too high or mismatched. MI, sam n max, all of em have laggy sound processing.

Re: SCUMMVM
Any clue on how to resolve the audio processing? Like increase the buffer or reducing the frequency or both? It is super crackly. I found mt32 emu to be slightly less crackly than FM, but it gets pretty bad still.

Re: SCUMMVM
So I switched it to "vmode -r 320 240 rgb16" after setting graphics mode to "normal (no scaling)" and it is working beautifully on the 1084. The check boxes don't seem to have much effect on it being able to run or start. Everything works that is in that lower resolution, which is most stuff prior to Curse of Monkey Island and B...

Ahhh I figured it out. Justifier has janky wiring and the adapter shifts around too. Got it shooting and pausing and tracking it's shots by twisting and shaking the wire. Looks like a rewiring is in it's near future. Thanks.
