today i noticed, after mounting all folders under games/, the update_all script is failing due to a permissions error on /media/fat/games/Apple-I. it update runs fine if i unmount the shares (via nfs_unmount.sh). it seems like permissions for Apple-I is set the same as everything else under games as far as I can tell. drwxr-xr-x 4 dbus dbus 7 Mar ...

That's not a bad deal. It's a shame that it's only the themed controllers available. I was about to order one until I saw that.

Are you using the updated kernel with the new driver included in it? AFAIK, it was only released via Discord.

Re: Castlevania/Dracula Rondo Missing SFX?

It's always preferable to play with default settings, but for some reason about a decade ago, it became popular for people to replace the music on rips with louder music, and this is also the reason why there is a "CD Audio Boost" setting on the core (note: "Off" is normal console behaviour). This will of course have an impact ...

Re: Best All-Round Controller

Along with the DS4, the DualSense controller is pretty good. I'm also very pleased with my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+.

But no matter the controller's quality, sometimes you just can't really substitute for an original controller because of the design. For example the Intellivision or N64 controllers just don't map well to a modern gamepad (IMO).

Any recommendations for shadow masks for this? So many options. I guess you’re supposed to match the red, green and blue order of your display’s sub pixels with the appropriate filter(RGB, GBR, BGR, etc)? I've played with options pretty extensively on this screen, and at least a couple resemble CRTs that I actually used back when. Everyone is goin...

I tested with serveral BIOS, followed many guides, the only game I can launch is Parodius with no music, and Burning Ranger but I'm stuck at file selection. I even tried t...

Re: Nintendo Style Controllers

I have a NSO N64 Controller, and it works great once you get the updated linux kernel in place that has the driver needed for it (available on Discord). Prior to that, the controller will "twitch" random input making mapping it and using it in games difficult. I can observe this happening on a different linux PC as well, so it's something...

Re: Overclocking by “Adding Scanlines” Method for Eliminating Slowdows in Most Games Without Causing Issues

Nobody answered you, so I will attempt that: The FPGA cores we have strive to resemble real hardware. Features like that in software emulation aren't simple to translate to FPGA logic, and since it's hard enough to get an accurate core written, extensions such as that are not really in the cards. Features like save states are simple to implement in...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

I wholeheartedly agree. The screen only seems small at first glance. Add that stand that LamerDeluxe recommended (I got one, it's really nice) and you can adjust it for whatever perfect angle you need. After that the screen's resolution makes all the filters and shadowmasks look fantastic. It feels bigger than it is after that's all setup.

Re: A better configuration solution is needed for supporting vertical HDMI displays

As an owner of the same display, I would also appreciate your proposed option. As for an immediate fix, and it's probably a good bit of work, but: you could move your games to a USB drive or network drive and have separate SD cards for the OS, one for each display. Then you'd just change the SD card when you change displays. Thanks for your reply....

I think a Dual Shock 4 (V2) will be a much better option for Mister, the Dual Sense D-Pad is really bad for 2D games, and personally I felt DS4 was more comfortable and more ergonomic in my hands vs the Dual Sense. also Dual Sense has very poor battery life (at least on PS5) and you won't be able to use it's haptic features on Mister anyway. For the USB-C version, I got a 196 x 147 mm glass screen protector from a seller on eBay that fits well (just a small gap on the sides) for $7. Center it well enough and it's super hard to tell it doesn't completely cover the screen while you're playing. The full actual screen size is 200x150mm for this screen version.
