Re: The case for a MiSTer-native video player

Yeah, on the ARM side would be useful too, and it would be easy enough to include mpv in a recompile of the linux kernel. Not sure how well it would run anyway, but I'm hesitant to do anything custom because I want to keep it simple and just use the updater scripts and don't want any breaking with every update. The case for a MiSTer-native video player

Like cameras, what the pros always say is that "the best camera is the one you have with you", whether that be a simple point & shoot, or mobile phone, or DSLR... and I find just replacing the word "camera" with "computer" or "console" works equally as appropriately. I recently got a Dell 2007FPB. It's a ...

If you plan to use cut a USB cable, make sure it's a USB 3.0 cable cos you need all 9 wires/pins.

Re: Ghetto MT32-Pi

So can this be done easily leaving the IO board on? No, because the IO board will cover up those GPIO pins. The USER port is bringing those pins out to make accessible. So you can just splice a usb cable with jumper wires to go from the USER Port to the pi. It's equally as easy if you have a soldering iron. There are of course other methods availa...

Re: Community sourced game list for AO486 Top 500

Yeah, I've already gone down the MT32-pi rabbit hole. It's nice down there! The sound is awesome. I just connected the pi directly to the MiSTer and was sold as soon as I heard the first few notes of the Monkey Island intro. I took it apart though because I wanna use the IO board on my VGA. Thanks for your info, I was mostly just asking about the s...

Re: Not able to install Windows 95...[Solved]

I figured it out recently based on posts on this forum. I don't know where the guide is though. You'll just have to do some digging/reading. I got my Windows 95 installation booting with the hd mounted on 0-0. I never did get the cd-rom or file sharing to work properly though so I took a step back from it. I'll try again in a few months when there ...

Re: Community sourced game list for AO486 Top 500

Oh geez, I was somehow hoping for a more concise "definitive top-100" than even more games I have no hope of getting through.

I have a question... When you start a game and you have a bunch of options like EGA/VGA adlib/SB/MT32/CD like in monkey Island 1... How do you know which one to pick? It is just trial and error?

Re: Better performance and 080 support?

Another thing I would like to add is that I too believe that the "Minimum" core should be left as-is, with future development focused on the refinement of the original Amiga experience.

I am however, all for a brand new separate Amiga core that is more future-oriented and focused on pushing the DE10-Nano as far as it can conceivably go.

Re: Better performance and 080 support?

Interesting read QuartexNOR. I'd love a more "future-oriented/forward-looking" Amiga core. May I ask, what's stopping you from creating this core yourself or gathering a team for this? You at the very least seem well positioned to at least outline the requirements/vision of such a project and get the ball rolling. In many ways, Amiga seem...

ETA Prime on YT did a video on the Wavshare AMOLED and he had terrible luck with it; getting tonnes of screen tearing, albeit with a Raspberry Pi which suffers terribly with screen tearing regularly.

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

Ultimately, if I were to invest in a MiSTer handheld, I would want it to be in the dream resolution of 1600x1440 resolution like the analogue pocket. That is only a 3.5" display, but I personally think that's big enough for a handheld and more space could be dedicated to front-facing stereo speakers. This display is available on AliExpress her...

Re: Shared folder discussion

Not working properly for me in Windows 95. I can see the files Windows I created on my Mac but I can't read or write to the shared drive. With Windows 95 you have to run MiSTerFS before you start Windows 95. Did you do that? That is, adding it to a boot file. I think for Windows 95 the boot files or otherwise empty. Worked for me to do this. But y...

I set up my Mac Plus core over the last few days using the instructions on the core's repo page. There was a lot of trial and error, but here are some hints that will maybe help someone else: 1. The disk image that they link to in the repo is for 6.0.5. If you just follow the default install instructions, you will also need a Disk 2 and Disk 3 (&q...

2048 x 1536 is also a nice resolution if you have a display the supports it.

For a 1440P display, you're best off setting the Mister to 1280 x 720, for perfect 2x scaling.

Ghetto MT32-Pi

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but seeing as MT32 support is vastly more prevalent on the PC core, I guess it's kind of appropriate. Disclaimer: I'm a total novice when it comes to MIDI and DOS games. After a week-long journey, I've finally managed to experience the joys of MT32 audio (spoiler: it's amazing) and I used only...
