Re: PC Monitors That Support 1920x1440

This is not a native resolution for any monitor so it will look like poop. It’s better to use a crt or a native resolution for an actual quality picture.

Mega Drive Core Menu Broken After Latest Update

Core version 221109
Linux version 221224

Menu is now transparent over the gameplay, making it very hard to see. This did not happen before I ran update-all today.

Using direct video.

Edit: after a couple reboots it now works normally again. Weird.

The 3.5 audio jack in the analog i/o is both analog stereo audio and mini-toslink digital audio. So you can get the same digital sound out of it if the analog i/o's onboard DAC isn't doing it for you.

The analog io board doesn’t have a DAC, the analog signal comes out of the DE10 nano.

You cannot make it look good with upscaling on a CRT TV. It's either 1:1 or garbage, your choice. You'll need a high resolution LCD screen in order to upscale it and have it look good at the same time.

Re: DE10 Nano from Self-Balancing Robot Kit

First buy a new pin header. Heat up each leg (with a standard soldering iron!) from the top of the board, and pull them out with pliers, one by one. That's the safest, smartest and most non-destructive way of desoldering it. When all pins are out, use a regular solder sucker to clean out all the holes. This is easy to do even for a noob using bad t...

プーさん、ありがとうございます‼ I'm very happy to have a device I can play these old PC games on. Just to report on my testing with some RPG disk images I happen to have on hand: Lagoon is crashing on boot for me. On emulator, it starts with a line drawing of the ZOOM mascot, as seen in the screenshot below. On the MiSTer, it freezes with just the yellow cursor ...

It is almost completely inaudible when I sit right next to it in a very small and silent room. The faint hiss from the speakers in my TV is louder.

I run it at 3.3V.

It works, dudes. Thanks. To clarify for future readers, there is no option called "data cache", it's called "turbo". And that should be off, then. Turbo (cheats off) is a bit confusing I think. Maybe call it Turbo (disables cheats), if that fits. By the way! Feature request! Maybe display the title id or whatever it's called in ...

Hello,

The SNAC board has two jumpers. What are they for? When do you plug them in and when do you not? I cannot find any documentation on this.

Don’t listen to the stupid FOMO. Dual ram will never make sense! Get that analog board, it rocks. If you’re not using a CRT with your mister, you might as well get a Raspberry pi or some other boring solution. Heck, just use your pc.

How Do You Get Cheats to Work?

Hi, I have the download-all script and my cheats folder is full of PS1 games and it's in the right position. (/media/fat/cheats/PSX) However, literally zero games detect the cheats (tried a couple dozen). The cheats menu is always greyed out. How do I fix this? Is it not even implemented yet? Do I have to name the file the same? I tried for example...

It is designed and verified to be used without a fan and heat sink, so yes, you’ll be fine. There’s a lot of fear mongering and FOMO in the mister community, try to ignore that.

Re: Are SNAC adapters from AliExpress reliable?

Aliexpress electronics often require some kind of touch up of solder joints for the product to work properly. Other than that it should be fully functional. The Mister resellers tend to use low quality Chinese components themselves (typically sourced from LCSC or even Aliexpress itself), to increase profit margins. So you’re getting the same product.

Do you have a metal case on your mister? Without it, it is prone to ESD damage.

Funny, this is the first game I played through when I first got my mister.

There’s an “always run” cheat that makes it a lot more enjoyable. It’s virtually unplayable to me without it. Sadly this cheat is not in the update all cheat download so it has to be added manually which is not an easy task.

I think the problems might be related to the SNAC sellers using poor quality Chinese usb3 plugs from LCSC. I built my own and used quality components from Mouser (523-GSB416445CHR) and have had zero issues.

Yes. And I agree that the fight was quick and easy, but one hit kills still aren’t normal.

Sorry, I immediately over wrote the save file the moment I beat the boss. Like I said before, I was pretty over leveled and had the reasonably affordable equpment at the time in the game, and yet got killed in one hit. I've now progressed towards the end of the game and nothing strange so far - all bosses have been behaving. It's funny, back when I...

It absolutely does work. But only in the NES core, and you have to enable serial in the settings of that core for it to be enabled.

The SNAC board has some secret undocumented jumpers on it, I'm not sure, but you may have to enable or disable one of them.

Ys Book II Bug?

Hey guys. Playing Ys Book II currently. Got to the first boss in the caves, and it insta-kills me with a single hit. A guide I found says you're supposed to lose 20 HP per hit, at level 37. I am at level 41, and lose 166+ (max) HP. I have small sheild and chain armor equipped, the best gear you can reasonably get at this point in the game. This doe...
