Re: Professor wants GUS in FPGA
Yep, we're pretty spoiled already :) But that would definitely be cool for the demoscene and to get proper (not downsampled) mixing in some games -- Paula still sounds better than the SB in quite a few scenarios. Anyway, each time something is achieved I feel extremely lucky considering how niche all this is. Grateful and a bit ashamed as I have th...

Re: Amiga Keys - USB Keyboard
There's also an option which remaps RESET as CTRL + GUI + GUI (that is to say, CTRL-WinLeft-WinRight equals CTRL-AmigaLeft-AmigaRight).
Didn't have to set key-menu-as-regui. This latter is useful if you only have a single Windows key + a "menu" key.

Creeping Me Out : crash since recent upate
Hi everyone ! I noticed that the Creeping Me Out demo crashed when using the recent Minimig core update. That's a new brillant Scorpion game. You can find the demo here : http://mixelslab.com/cmo-hex-night-amiga/ I filed a bugreport. Can you guys double check ? For some reason, it works on the n-2 Minimig core but only the "unpacked" vers...

I'm kinda hijacking the thread but I'm looking for a simple way to send chords progressions to external MIDI hardware (like a Volca FM which is a good piece of hardware but has a super limited sequencer).
Which piece of ST software would you advise ? (never used an ST MIDI app )
Cheers !

Re: 5× Vertical *Per-Game* Integer Scaling for Amiga Is Here
Hi everyone ! If I'm not mistaken, the current default integer scaling factor for the Amiga on the MiSTer in 1080p is actually 3X (286 lines with overscan according to the OSD) and not 4X. I was really shocked when starting DOS games in 320*200 because they were scaled 5X and it looked ultra chunky. (so I added some fixed borders but it only plays ...

Re: VSCALE_BORDER not taken into consideration ?
I temporarily worked around this by specifying a vscale_border of 140 to get a 4x scaling with perfect scanlines on the DOS core. Obviously, it only works if games use a 320x200 resolution. Of the game is in 320x240 (ex. Blackthorne) scanlines look bad

Hi ! That's an impressive piece of work and definitely ultra useful for people who weren't really into DOS back in the days (skipped from the Amiga to Windows 95 directly).
Could someone get Fast Doom (1&2) to work with sound ? I tried all memory profiles, no luck - whether sc or sb, which work with the regular doom version.

Re: VSCALE_BORDER not taken into consideration ?
Just to be more accurate : in the past, when enabling both vscale_border and integer scaling, what would happen was : - for instance, if you used a 1080p mode with a border of 50 and a 240p core - it would find the biggest possible multiply of 240 in (1080 minus 50) - in this case : it would make no difference as it would still be a factor of 4. Bu...

Re: VSCALE_BORDER not taken into consideration ?
Hi ! Thanks for the reply ! Hmm, the behaviour must have changed then, because it used to work along with integer scaling. Thanks for the suggestion but if I use lowres = 4x I cannot apply the scanlines properly to the base picture but only to the upscaled one ! Tricky one Indeed ! :) Would be awesome if there was some "max scaling Factory opt...

Re: VSCALE_BORDER not taken into consideration ?
Hi Sorge ! Actually, unless I'm mistaken, it's not applied in any core ATM ? I'm trying to make the DOS (or SNES, Neo Geo, Genesis) core use a smaller form factor -- 5x is too much for me, I want to stick to 4x as the Amiga core, easier on my eyes, less blocky... The picture is closer to what I used to have on my small TV back in my childhood when ...

Hi, yet another MiSTer MINI purchase here. It's brilliant. Perfect form factor (2 layers instead of 3 on the original MiSTer with IO + USB addons). Superb options : HIFI audio Dac, RTC, Floppy buzzer for the Amiga (love it, I asked for it to be added), completely silent Noctua fan (I asked Antonio to set it at 3.3V), great db9 port supporting sever...

Re: Games switching to interlaced mode : scaling factor not restored properly
Bump ! :-) No one has this issue at all ? What happens is some games get stuck in (I think) 3x scaling mode instead of 4x after temporarily switching to interlaced resolution back to normal non-interlaced low-res. I use a regular integer scaling mode. As I said, titles triggering it are : Uridium 2, Shadow of the Beast 3, Lionheart, Bill's Tomato G...

Hmm... Any discussion with Sorge to bring this upstream eventually ? -- would apply too to the buzzer used to mimic the Amiga floppy drive sound, which Antonio implemented too. I love it, it adds so much to the experience -- at least if you grew up with those ! I'm even frustrated when games load too quickly

Hi !
Apart from some more speed I'd vote for a Gravis Ultrasound implementation. It would be fantastic for the demoscene.
An FPGA implementation of the MT-32 but as the mt32-pi is officially supported, it must mean it's kinda out of scope
Of course, I'm just dreaming aloud I'm already very happy with the current state of the core.

That's obviously very personal, depending on one's childhood etc. but I would love if any of those was implemented : - FPGA implementation of the Gravis Ultrasound (for the PC demoscene) and of the Roland MT-32 for the ao486 core :) - Thomson MO5 / TO7 ("plan informatique pour tous", those machines were in all schools in France in the mid...

Is the Dual Action the same as the F310 ? I used to have one and it didn't seem to work well with the 1000 Hz polling ?
But indeed, the F310 is a favorite : cheap & sturdy, great D-pad.

I'm wondering if the Noctua at 3v is silent. At full speed it (this very fan) was very noisy on my previous MiSTer build.

Re: Games switching to interlaced mode : scaling factor not restored properly
Hi ! Thanks for your reply ! Did you try Uridium 2, SOTB 3, Lionheart, Bill's Tomato Game, or multiball modes in flippers ?
All four incorrectly switch back to a non-interlaced mode.
Hmm, actually, I really don't want to get a 5x scaling factor -- I prefer a smaller a finer picture
cheers
