Re: Advanced cores for MiSTer future FPGA hardware

I think someone meant to quote me. Yes, PS2 has been somewhat worked on in the preliminary phases, and then I think this person dropped off on working on it because of the cost-prohibitiveness.

Re: Advanced cores for MiSTer future FPGA hardware

How is it "Preservation", when it comes to N64, Dreamcast, PS2, etc... ? There are millions of them out there on eBay, second-hand shops, etc... It's not like it's hard to get one right now. What I personally think is more important is the hundreds of machines released from the 70s, to the 80s, and 90s, that still have either no emulatio...

For some reason I didn't see this comment when you sent it originally, sorry about that. I'm not super active on the forums anymore.

I think your assessment is correct, I've updated my understanding of it since then.

Re: Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest Arcade Core Released

A possibility? Yes. But it's not currently implemented in the core, manually adding v-flip for the analog output often requires a decent amount of work, it's been added to a handful of cores and only by alanswx and jimmystones I believe. I looked into it for someone else the other day and the original arcade system didn't have it, the core that I p...

Re: Vertical Sync issue on NES composite

Given I haven't seen these issues with most converters I've tried, I'd assume it isn't a problem with the core, but it's a problem with axunworks' adapter. You should try to contact them and see if they have some advice.

Re: Advanced cores for MiSTer future FPGA hardware

N64 and DS have already had some preliminary exploration and work done on them by FPGAzumSpass. There's someone I've talked to who has worked on PS2 FPGA emulation at very preliminary steps, but he plans on just doing hybrid emulation with a PCIe FPGA card and a computer, mostly to offload the 128-bit calculations and other stuff that software emul...

Re: MiSTer is 6 Years Old!! Happy Birthday !!!

Thanks for all the hard work sorgelig and so many others!

The MiSTer helped me stay a bit more sane through this pandemic, it helped get me into programming more seriously for the first time, and it's given me some extra purpose in life (to give back to the emulation community in little ways).

When you connect a USB storage, if you have a "games" folder (or any other folder that is in the root of the SD card) it will use a path priority like so --> https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_MiSTer/cores/paths/#path-priority Just for future reference. If you have a games/Genesis folder on both the SD Card and the USB drive, the USB d...

Re: tty2tft Soft & Hardware Add-On (shows core based pictures and videos on a color TFT display)

In the future too... You could use the debug port, it's just serial, and you can parse the output to get the different games. I'm surprised pixelcade didn't do this either.

That way you can leave the SNAC port open.

Re: Wired Ethernet Problem?

On the MiSTer see if you have two IP Addresses assigned to one interface. If you do, then try this: ip addr flush dev wlan0 But change wlan0 to probably eth0 if that is the name of the interface with two ip addresses. I've had this problem with my wifi adapter frequently and this is the only way to fix it. Mine would get two addresses, one regular,...

Re: Error when running downloader.sh

Try this

1. Remove your Micro SD card from the MiSTer and plug it into your PC.

2. Download this --> https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/SD-Inst ... 0220413.7z - and unzip it

3. Copy and overwrite the contents of the linux folder from the zip over the contents of the linux folder on the MicroSD card.

Re: HDMI output requires that VGA is plugged in?

1. Run the downloader/update script and do a full power cycle. 2. It's possible if you haven't ran the downloader or update script in a very long time that your linux kernel is very outdated and it might not update now. If you have a spare Micro SD card could you run balena etcher and get the Mr. fusion image on a separate micro sd and try that out...

Re: Graphical glitches/colored bands when loading cores/writing to SD card? (Not a CEC Issue)

Just talked to lauregami yesterday, the setting is at vsync_adjust=0, it's possibly just related to the TV not playing well with the core changes. Nothing to worry about though. :)

Re: Strange results after running update_all script

Is this to your SDCard or is this on a USB drive that is formatted NTFS? The new Game & Watch core has an unusual internal name with the ampersand character, so I'm assuming there might be some bug there, possibly.

Re: Wired Ethernet Problem?

Did you already power cycle your router in your home? Sometimes dns caching and stuff like that can make things wonky. Also, do you have more than one MiSTer in your home? If both are on the network than DNS can have potential collisions depending on your configuration at home due to two hostnames. Unlikely but it's worth a shot.

There's an OSD option, make sure it's set to the one with "Click" showing.

It's possible your bluetooth adapter might not be compatible? Is it only Bluetooth 2.0? I haven't tested anything that wasn't bluetooth 4.0 or 5.0.

I almost feel like making it a separate repo is better from a distribution angle but making it a different branch is better from a development angle which should usually be the priority.

For the tinny/loud/distorted sound cores, go to the secondary menu by pressing right in the OSD and turn on audio filters and go to arcade cores as a category when browsing for them. Tune it to your liking. These cores are based on the sound of the PCB (or very similar to it derived from mame sometimes). Arcade systems were design to project audio ...

Re: Out Zone (Toaplan) Invincibility Always On

Reset your settings in the core and then save settings if that doesn't fix it. If those options were moved then the bits in your cfg could be inverted. Common problem when changes are made to the ordering. I don't know if those kinds of changes were made, but maybe it will help your situation.

Re: Official Adapter With the DS4 Really as Bad as the Test Findings State?

Anybody using the DS4 with the 8bitdo adapter should stop doing so. It screws up the compatibility with that controller. The 8bitdo adapter generates it's own product ID and Vendor ID and mister doesn't know you are using a DS4, so I think the track pad doesn't work. I haven't done it in a while but I think also that the rumble might not work and t...

Re: Deamonbite PS3 Compatibility

The daemonbite arcade encoder that MickGuyver used to sell has support for more buttons than the design on GitHub. But I don't think either of them support mapping to home. The GP2040 Pico project might be your best bet. It's more modern, has more features, runs on a much cheaper development board that is also available still, and is directly compa...

Re: Official Adapter With the DS4 Really as Bad as the Test Findings State?

Is it as bad as it looks? According to the testing it is, which that testing is a closed loop special test with a MiSTer core and in a best case scenario, and done with the MiSTer and an custom PCB with an arduino. Seems accurate to me given that I can feel the results of some of the other controllers on there that are in the mid 20's.
