Re: Video Info On CRT TV 15Khz

Why not? This might be normal.

Each core's resolutions will vary, not only by core, but often by the software that is running on the core (the roms).

What core are you referring to with a 640x224 reported resolution?

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

This is not quite correct though. An FPGA is a real-time computing platform. A CPU, even without an OS, will never be a true real-time platform. True, you can get very, very close with software running on a CPU (even with an OS). I cannot tell the difference between bsnes / higan and MiSTer SNES. But the MiSTer will always be "more accurate&q...

Re: Moving the Cores to the USB Storage in 2023

For RPi4 as a NAS, I would suggest checking this out:

https://github.com/danmons/retronas

I use it at home and it works great.

https://github.com/danmons/retronas/wiki/MiSTer-FPGA

I use it with a cheap Western Digital external 14 TB hard drive.

Do note that if you use WiFi it could introduce latency that might cause some issues in CD cores.

Re: MiSTer Nuked-MD MegaDrive Core

OK...this is crazy strange. I don't think the core has changed since I last tested (the day before the question about composite blending was posed)...and it was DEFINITELY adaptive, because the difference is visually quite obvious. I just retested, and it indeed appears to (now?) be full-screen blending...sort of. With blending on or off, watch th...

Re: How to retrieve the current core and name launched in a script?

I want to tryout some scripting on my MiSTer. When a game is launched to get the core, name and path and doing a HTTP get for example with these variables. What is the most robust way to achieve that? Having a sample script how to do it or some references would be great :) https://github.com/wizzomafizzo/mrext Wizzo has a lot of this happening in ...

Re: Questions for users without an IO board

When I was building my third one I used the 40mm version of the one Calolo posted until I received more parts. I used this one in a little 3d printed arcade cab that wasn't really designed for anything bigger than an RPi4. 40mm fans will run a bit quieter and are more readily available, so that is probably the right way to go for your design.

Jotego is looking into it --> https://github.com/jotego/jtcores/issues/349

Might want to report your issue as well since it's not a crash but the rom can't load. Could possibly be an sdram controller issue or some marginal timing problems.

Just struck me as odd considering the similarity in the hardware and the six year gap between games. I was not saying there was anything underhand involved Later release date doesn't mean more complex hardware. There's a reason why Cave core got DoDonpachi support before Donpachi, an earlier game in the series. Hardware designs can actually get si...

Re: A 1.0 Verilog Version of Nuked MD Was Released

There's still a few bugs, but overall it's passing with flying colors regarding Ti_'s tests when compared against the current Genesis core. The issues left in the new Megadrive core appear to all be related to it not meeting timing requirements, like interrupts being missed due to signal getting there too late (you'll see pixels flickering randomly...

That documentation is open source and you can contribute to it if you'd like. https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_MiSTer/editing/ <-- See here for a guide on how to do that. It's fairly simple. Any cores listed that are unofficial should be put into a separate table for unofficial cores personally. There's more than enough cores for me to keep tr...

I guess the only positive out of this system is that not counting region variants, there's less than 400 games and probably less than 200 worth playing.

Personally i have no interest in the N64 and have 0 nostalgia for it, but i still support this core on patreon for the beauty of the project

Paper Mario is worth playing regardless.

The hobby market for FPGAs was always a promotional tool for Intel, it's never been a serious investment with any serious profit margins. It's to get people used to using Intel's products so when they get into the professional space it's what they are used to.

Re: Tapper Arcade Video Resolution

It could be similar to the Sega Genesis core when playing Sonic 2 in 2-player, where it's not "true" interlaced. that game specifically doesn't output interlaced to the TV, it outputs 240p while the game appears like it's interlaced.

Re: Tapper Arcade Video Resolution

511x240 is interlaced, otherwise it would be a 2:1ish aspect ratio. Interlaced video on MiSTer often reports that way. Interlaced IS basically 240p but it's alternating which lines it draws the 240 lines on vertically.

Check resistors R3 for 200 ohms and R4 for 1000 ohms with a multimeter. I've seen misteraddons resolve it for someone by having them replace a resistor that went bad. Other times replacing the LED will be required if the red LED isn't working anymore.

Re: New to MiSTer. I have some questions about an arcade set up.

For a calibration screen I would use the service menu in one of the arcade cores. the issue with calibrating to one system however is that your monitor does not 1:1 match the monitor used by each of these arcade systems, so you may line it up on one, and then another won't line up at all. Typically there is a "service" on/off switch in th...

If you are in Europe, PVMs are really not that much of an upgrade over a regular Sonys, since they all have RGB via SCART. Turn on the GPU slowdown option under the miscellaneous submenu in the OSD and reset the games that don't work. See if that works.

Also make sure you don't have any "unsafe" hack options (U) turned on in there currently.
