Re: Problem Powering On

I had similar issues. The MISTer worked OK with the default PSU but as soon as I started adding connections to the USB ports, I started to have issues. It took me a while (and some friendly advice on here) but I replaced it with a 5V 5A PSU and I've been happy as a retrogamer in retrogaming heaven ever since!

Ridge Racer - they're all pretty good but the first one is a perfect slice of arcade racing Driver - perfectly captures those old American 70s movies & TV shows - fantastic car handling, great damage and some very aggressive cops Tenchu - Metal Gear Solid with Ninjas Tekken 3 - Namco got everything right with this one - roster, moves, timing, g...

Re: Super CPU Support?

There's one more reason for SuperCPU now that someone has hacked the original code for Stunt Car Racer to retain the game's timings but increase the framerate - and the results are amazing with the C64 version running faster than the Amiga one. Stunt Car Racer for SuperCPU This project is the fruit of playing around in the evenings for a few weeks,...

Re: PlayStation, Whats Your Favorite Game?

Ridge Racer, Tekken 3 and Driver (probably). Both Ridge Racer and Tekken 3 have superior core games at the arcade but both are better gaming experiences on the home format - bonus modes like practice and extended tracks and cars. The Wipeout games were good but Wipeout Omega Collection on PS4 is the definitive Wipeout experience and I don't think I...

Re: MiSTress - Conversion Kit for Amiga cases

The portability of an A600 is part of the appeal. The A500 is a bulky machine - I have two - it's not exactly backpack-friendly.

Still, love what they're doing and I have to say that Minimig captures the feel of an Amiga perfectly, so replacing ailing Amigas with insta-load, super-reliable MISTers seems like a great idea.

Re: One year with the MiSTer

I'm about a year in and am now able to play, on their native formats, games I've read about for years! All those articles in Retro Gamer, Edge retrospectives and friends' recommendations from the machines they grew up with - like the Apple II, the MSX and the Archimedes. I just need to sort out it's user interface. I think I may need another two MI...

Great question, diplomatically posed. I'm quite interested in this topic too. It's the feature that's preventing me from converting my CRT MAME cabinet to MISTER. I also gave it a try from Flynn's pack and it works well. I ran the demo for at least 5 mins. I used the EMM386 config and a Soundblaster config.

Just dropping a note to say thanks for the Apple 2 core. I never had one back in the day and, though I was aware of their place in gaming's pantheon, I never had the chance to play one. I've just spent a couple of hours playing Prince of Persia and Airheart and I'm really impressed with both the games and the Apple 2 itself. I'm also very grateful ...

Re: Dread Doom Clone on MiSTer

I played this on the MISTer last night. Considering how clunky FPS attempts were on the Amiga back in the day, this is nothing short of incredible to see running on an Amiga. The technical skill required to pull this off is remarkable and if this had come out at the time, perhaps things might have gone differently for the Amiga, but it didn't and t...

Re: How to backup SD card

If you're running Linux on your PC you can use Rsync, that's how I've started to do mine as it'll only update changes and it just goes straight to my NAS. Set up a cronjob and as long as the MiSTer is on then you won't even need to think about backups. This is a great idea! Since MISTer runs Linux, is this something that could be configured direct...

Re: Windows '98 version of DOS for Duke Nukem Series

OK, so it took me a bit longer but I left it running last night for about 3 hours on the demo. There were points where it seemed to have crashed - wouldn't respond to keypresses, even Ctrl-Alt-Del, but it came back after a few mins as if nothing had happened. Obviously I wasn't actively playing it for that long but perhaps it's worth trying the sam...

Re: Windows '98 version of DOS for Duke Nukem Series

I can't help with the Win98 aspect but can confirm that Duke Nukem runs fine on MISTer from Flynn's pack. The Atomic Edition struggles with framerate and is basically unplayable but loads to the title screen and runs the demo.

I select EMM386 and Soundblaster as my startup options.

Did you copy across all the minimig cfg files as well?

minimig.cfg
minimig1.cfg
minimig2.cfg
minimig3.cfg

I can't really think of too many other issues. MISter runs the minimig.cfg which loads the MegaAGS boot rom and mounts the hdf.

Also, in answer to your question - "Should I be looking for a different hdf to use?": No, the MegaAGS image has just about everything you could want from the gaming side. Both floppy drives, DF0 and DF1 should have * No Disk * In the Drives section, it should be configured like this: IDE A600/A1200 : ON FAST-IDE (68020): ON PRI. MASTER: FIXED/HDD MEGAAGS.HDF PRI. SLAVE: FIXED/HDD MEGAAGS-SAVES.HDF SEC MASTER and SLAVE should both be disabled. Finally, in SYSTEM, the important setting is: ROM: MEGAAGS-KICKSTART.ROM

Speedball EU - Corrupt [Solved]

I've tried a couple of rom files but this game corrupts from the title screen. It launches into a demo game faster than it should too and the game runs at an appalling and unplayable framerate. I've tried the same rom on Fusion 3.6.1 and it runs perfectly. Strangely Speedball 2 and all other MS games I tried seem to run well. Can someone else confi...

Yes, the symptoms do sound very similar but, because I'm using the power splitter, it shouldn't be the same root cause. However, I'll open 'er up and have a look. Thanks for the tip!
