Re: Casio PV-1000 Console Core

Fair play, if it works then may as well. Maybe someone can help clean it up further if it would benefit from it once it's in Main.

Are there any other systems you are interested in making cores for? Really appreciate you working on these obscure ones.

Re: Casio PV-1000 Console Core

As for additional menu items, there really isn't anything, system-wise, that is left. No joystick options, no peripherals not even Ntsc/Pal options. Maybe add back in the usual Wide/Normal screen option. The biggest thing for me, is cleaning up the code. It's the equivalent of a prototype board with nothing but bodge wire and duct tape. Once I get...

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

Oh nice, that's a cool project there. The Videopac/Odyssey2 core is a good example of a core that can be improved significantly, getting the chip added to upgrade it to a G7400+ would be ace, and then if it could get Basic, Keyboard, Tape and the Chess cart added that would be a real best in class emulation and experience there. Hopefully someone d...

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

Jason had a quick look at adding GX4000 support to the CPC core not long back and sadly it seems to be quite involved. I actually think what we may see is the inverse of this, with the computerisation of early console cores. A lot of the early consoles had basic carts and keyboard and tape peripherals to turn them into crude computers. I think ther...

Many thanks for this core, was not expecting a PV-2000 to wind up in Main a few days after you released a WIP PV-1000! That's you now done three cores in a row from my post about possible MiSTer cores. :-)

Re: Casio PV-1000 Console Core

Great work! Really nice to be able to check this system out finally, I gave the library a quick run through and everything played fine for me without any issues. I did notice a few games had a blue border at the top and bottom, is that how those games are a bit like some SMS games? Well done doing the NEC D65010G031 sound chip, we didn't have that ...

Absolutely, here they are. But before publishing them to GIT, is the CORENAME creativision really the right one or a guess?
Actually, my bad, should be "CreatiVision" :-)

Updated with GBA info now that you can load roms on the Pocket. Let me know if I have missed anything exclusive to either core.

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

With the 3DO vs 486, I think that is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. I'm not a developer, but my understanding is a large part of the reason the core is so big is because it is bit of a Frankenstein's monster at this point, with so many things bolted on to it to support various things, to the point where trying to compile it is like rollin...

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

I actually didn't know what the Game Child was until it was mentioned recently, and realised I had one (I think the football one) as a kid, I might still have it under my bed at my parents house. They're not really a "console" but a series of simple LCD games in shells that look like a Game Boy. Presumably support for these could be added...

Some good suggestions here, will get some more added to the list soon, been quite busy lately. I remember talking about Uzebox a good while back, I can't remember if people said it was doable or not, I'll need to go back and find that conversation, thanks for the reminder. Tamagochi is another I forgot about that has been mentioned before. With the...

Re: Since there's a GameBoy SNAC Adapter, can I link MiSTer with a GameCube/Wii?

This was discussed on the Discord the other day, so the GBC SNAC adaptor takes a GBA link cable as well, so we have the hardware already. It would need someone (probably Blue who designed the board and is currently implementing SNAC into PS1 core) to implement into the GBA core, which is no trivial task, but is doable. So keep your fingers crossed ...

Re: tty2oled Soft&Hardware Add-On (Shows Core based Pictures on a Display)

Oh wow, that was quick! Good effort! I'll probably add the other similar era IREMs as it seems once we have M72 the rest should be fairly simple to implement as well.

Be worth doing Laser 500 and RCA Studio II, those are in various stages of development and we have file names.

Re: Good "beginner" retro computer to implement on FPGA?

There is also an Acorn System 1 unofficial MiSTer core that could be cleaned up or rewritten to work properly on MiSTer, it is a very simple (but historically significant) machine.

Re: Cores and Features on Analogue Consoles not (yet) on MiSTer & Vice-Vera

The FPGA chip in the Super NT isn't large enough to support the other special chips. As stated, the main selling point of the Analogue consoles is the ability to play original carts and it can play a flashcard, so you can play special chip games that way. The ability to play roms on Analogue consoles requires using an "unofficial" firmware.

Cores and Features on Analogue Consoles not (yet) on MiSTer & Vice-Vera

A question that comes up a lot, especially on the Discord, is "What is on the Analogue consoles that we don't have (yet) on MiSTer?" so I though I would put it in a post here so we have a reference. This is covering purely emulation, and it is worth noting that the Analogue consoles are primarily a means of playing your original carts and...

Thanks, looks like we have the Mattel Aquarius already as it is indeed a computer, so have deleted that one.

I was thinking about doing something similar for computers, I am not as well versed but I could do something smaller and update as people mention ones they would like to see, would be a fun way to learn more about old PCs.

Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

Hi guys, so this has been a long time coming from me, it is a lengthy breakdown of all the various consoles released that we currently don't have on MiSTer and some musings about whether we could one day see cores for them. You may have seen a similar smaller post I did covering the viability of 5th Generation Consoles in the Atari Jaguar thread th...
