Re: Coco 2 + Mantra Alice + Dragon 32/64

Most of the entries on World Of Dragon have both wav and cas files. It'd be interesting to try to load the wavs via ADC and compare with cas versions, seeing as wav files are usually proper dumps. You can even play them right from this archive, but I don't have a right cable atm to check it out.

Re: Coco 2 + Mantra Alice + Dragon 32/64

Out of 6 random games from Dragon Archive I've just tried 2 work fine, 2 load some segments then hang , and 2 just throw IO/FM errors right away. So yeah, it is pretty hit and miss, but at least some games should work.

Re: A New Amiga Game Collection

V0.9 is up now on archive. org (search for "amiga"+"akeley" or "play it by year"). It adds years 1992-1995 and concludes the first part of this project, spanning Amiga's birth and arguably the end of the Golden Era (years 1985-1995). Upcoming version 1.0 will add the "no-year" games from HoL (which require a ...

Re: Issues with certain floppy images

For games with Tandy fx you can only use Tandy bios, and there are quite a few floppy-only ones. Similar case if you'd like to have an authentic 5160 experience. Some examples are the DOS images I mention in the linked post, and some Tandy I tried for my Tandy pack like Marble Madness, Demon's Forge, or Mozart. Many games do work ok and in this par...

I'm not sure if it's possible to install every floppy to hard drive - eg PC Booters?

I also had problems with running even 360kb images on 5160 as per this post.

Re: KFC 15" CRT via HDMI-VGA adapter and scanlines?

If, as I understand, this KFC is a 31KHz PC monitor, you can just use the Video Processing Filters from the OSD. I'm stuck with a VGA PC monitor as my only CRT atm and this is a sort of compromise (I use slightly tweaked PVM / JVC presets). It's neither fish nor fowl really, if we are talking serious CRT addiction ( I really miss my consumer 15kHz ...

Re: The Most Optimal Boot Config for the HDD Images?

Thanks mate, problem is these are all for 486 and up machines. And the XT will mostly refuse refuse to work with emm.386 and its ilk which form the basis of these configs. @flynnsbit was kind enough to share his WIP vhd and included power-user config with me and I might try to cannibalise some of it for my vhd. Although, I must admit that so far my...

Re: How to Run Problematic Games

Sure, that was my suggestion in a previous post. This problem seems to be limited to Tandy only (which is strange, since that Full Operation Mode in new BIOS was supposed to actually benefit Tandy 1000 gfx). However, I think the new xtide contained in the XT roms ( micro8088/pcxt31) works better than the old one, since now you can run BASICA games,...

I found some more examples of games which will only work on Tandy 1000 with the old xtide bios (Pirates!, Aaargh, Three Stooges, and more), so this is not just about Sierra games.

Re: VGA Mode Changing for 720x400 and 640x400

Interesting, I also have had problems with a lot of ao486 games in the last few months (usually literally "crash" - black screen) but I have chalked it up to maybe not having a heatsink. This happens on both old/new modeline method. What is the number of the version of the mister that you say works fine with the old one? I might give it a...

Like I said, these are "experimental" - meaning I did not have much time to test them, for various reasons.

If the old ones work for you, just stick with these, there shouldn't be much (any?) difference.

Re: How to Run Problematic Games

Ok, it's just a heads up. I did a quick search for Xtide+Sierra but nothing worthwile came up, so I don't really have any ideas atm. Will keep my ears open.

Perhaps it's worth considering making a note about it in the wiki though, and maybe keeping two different xtide roms in the github repo.

Re: How to Run Problematic Games

Hi, spark2k06, I think there is a problem when using the new ide_xtl.rom with Tandy - it makes Sierra games hang. I didn't have time to test this extensively, but it seems to be related only to Sierra, as a handful of random other games I've tried run ok. When I use the old ide_xtl rom they work fine (though the BASICA games understandably don't). ...

Are these commands valid also for 31khz VGA monitors? They're dedicated for 31khz. I only have a VGA monitor at the moment so haven't tried any 15kHz ones. And what does it mean, can I read about cvt somewhere? I'm not sure really. There were some posts about it here on the forums (I think I took these modelines from @Foxbat Stargazer's example in...

I'm glad to hear these modelines are still useful, but I think these days you could do it simpler way (better?) with the new "cvt" command. Eg, that's what I'm using for ao486 atm (experimental, not sure it's better than the "normal" modelines): [ao486] forced_scandoubler=0 direct_video=0 [video=720x400] video_mode=720,400,70,cv...

Thanks for looking into this. I've just tried on a few of these games with this new rom and they work ok. Maybe Access would suit your needs? It's simple and fast, and if you need more than 400 game profiles, you should be able to nest the menu structure. It will require you to pick the game's executable, manually, though. Thanks mate, I had a look at it after your initial release post, but indeed the manual sorting is a big obstacle. @bbond007 / flyn...

Well, that's the thing, there are 4000 games in my 81-89 collection, which is meant for public release, so it'd be nigh on impossible to try all of them to set the right startup file. The Tandy pack is much smaller but it'd still be a bit of a job. I've just realized I haven't tried the MyMenu version posted in this thread nor the DOSLFN. Maybe I s...

Re: How to Run Problematic Games

What's puzzling is that you get disk errors. Did you manage to get past them? If not, maybe it's a question of disk geometry (cyls/heads/sectors). Nope, still present. It could be connected to geometry, but I think I've seen the same behaviour on 2 images which were not made by me (though still using my collection/files). I also thought maybe my P...

Thanks for looking into this. I will try to run these games on an earlier DOS version. It's good to know that the file swap solution works, but I won't use it en masse for this collection since I'd like to preserve the game archives as they were. I did write it in the project's description though.

You can browse pdf and txt files from the "Help" menu in OSD. These files should go into fat/media/docs/core-name (Isuppose you can put them elsewhere too but a particular core will look there first)

Re: How to Run Problematic Games

Don't know how, but I've just tried again and all the problem BASICA games I mentioned above work ok on ao486.

As for substitute solutions, such as converting or trying other basic, perhaps that would work but it'd be a lot of hassle to do on a mass scale, and in any case I feel like these games should work on the core directly, at least in theory.
