Thing is, if I run the pcxt core the txt is not garbled. In the mister menu I can see it outputing 15kh but in ao486 I’ll see a higher kh number. These are two different cores/machines. Most of your problems with running games are described in the wiki (need for XTIDE bios, only 360kb images for Tandy). Regarding the colours, I think Space Quest on Tandy uses EGA-like graphics, so they might be different. EDIT: I see now you're talking about pcxt mode, so scratch that. For the best versions I recommend getting Total Dos Collection and Gruby's Floppy Images pack. These will save you a lot of browsing.

hm you may want to tag them they usually respond quickly. my understanding is the processing is done entirely in hardware (zero lag) and does not require special cores or software processing fwiw the manual states it should work with any core that supports 15khz. and you can still output via all other video connectors on board. seems like the answ...

To use S-Video / Composite with MiSTer you will either need to make or buy a separate converter. Some info here, though it's not up to date - there might have been new sellers added since.
