Re: support for pimoroni keybow please

I'm sure I used a Bluetooth & USB keyboard at the same time (I had to use USB full size KB to map a key missing on mini Bluetooth board). That was months ago, can't imagine it's removed that functionality though).

This sounds like an old April fools joke! Other insane tips include urinating in the cartridge port before plugging in SMB3 for bonus levels, and of course plugging a human turd into the cartridge slot to get a virtually identical experience to SMB2. Actually, that last one is pretty accurate...

Re: Has anyone tried a 1TB MicroSD card in their MiSTer?

I saw elsewhere that a person has the top 300 best PSX games including multi disks and they fit on 165GB Double that for Sega CD and Turbo CD and you have 330 leaving 170GB for the rest and I would say you are fine with 512. You really don't need to cram the drive with crappy or bad games you will never play anyway. And Amiga & AO486 HDD's and...

Get a tiny usb microSD reader for the other. I have one made for a keyring & it's a snug fit. Very handy.

I can't get Another World to run it all. It just freezes at a green screen after the initial code screen That's nice, green is such a lovely colour. I fail to see how CPU speed would benefit you here though. Is it just that it would it get you to that green screen you crave that nanosecond faster? Try a different version, or try changing CPU/chips...

with a top plate on top of my fan plate PCB + fan, what's the easiest way to ensure the fan doesn't move when I blow onto the board below it? try to wedge my finger in there and hold it in place? a little tape? Dont want to routinely disconnect the power from the board, to add more wear + tear. Just finger it. That's my mantra. Besides, how often ...

As for canned air - it won't damage anything only the environment :p HFC-134a and HFC-152a are greenhouse gases used in canned air While canned air probably isn't great for the environment, there's probably so much environmental carnage from the materials, production & shipping of his MiSTer, a few puffs of canned air will have a pretty neglig...

It's a dynamo. I've used fans as dynamos before. what's that mean? sorry haha Hah, no problem. A dynamo is just an electric generator. The kind your car has to charge up the battery, as the wheels turn they turn dynamo & it charges the battery. It's literally just like an electric motor reversed as stated above. To give a bit context of computer speeds in days of yore, here's a little true story. Now boys & girls, settle down & listen... In 1996 I was going to uni & realised I'd have limited space in my small room in halls of residence. I had an unexpanded A1200 with a 420mb PC HDD jammed in it. USB HDD/SSD is definitely slower than using internal microSD. My Lexar 512Gb card runs pretty fast for Windows 98 on AO486. External 256Gb SSD is noticeably slower, which is a bummer. I had hoped the SSD would cope better with simultaneous r/w's than MicroSD. Before anyone says I'm a fool for using an SSD, it's just an old one I replaced from my PC...

The Amiga was not just "a computer", Amiga's were lots of different computers. While the AGA ones were generally backwards compatible, most older games required specific settings or software patches. WHDLoad does an incredible job of making all the games work fine on a single Amiga system. It would be surprising if a few incompatibilities...

Most likely a copy protection i induced malfunction the crackers failed to bypass.

There's an "easyflash" CRT version on CSDB. That wouldn't require any disk swap, it'll load faster and should be properly cracked.

To be clear, this patch only fixes the "standard bell", the bell that you get when character 7 (Ctrl-G) is printed. The keyboard buffer full indicator, and the PC Speaker sound in games, do not depend on this patch at all. Yes, I believe Mean Streets used PWM techniques to reproduce PCM sound, and was quite innovative in that. For beep s...

How I loved sitting at the computer, playing with my bell as a teenager! Brings back memories. The beeper was vital, you could diagnose H/W issues by counting the amount of beeps it made when you turned the PC on & got a blank screen. There was also a rather excellent "soundcard" emulator that used the beeper. I used it when wat...

I love all the old 80's computers. Just my personal favourite was c64, it was a pioneer. ZX Speccy had simplistic charm, a really British ingenuity where they know they can't afford good h/w but do great things with limited means. I did sneak a small statement in at the end of my last post in a feeble attempt to make it seem relevant to the topic 🤫.

The Vic20 is the best of the early bunch in my opinion. C64 the best of the mid period with BBC close behind. I was never a Spectrum fan, the sound was too poor to grab my attention. I'd count C64 as "early" period. VIC20 came out in 1981 I think & C64 in 1982, so not much between them. C64 is still my favourite computer of all time,...

I keep one AO486 VHD on the MicroSD & the 2nd VHD on external HDD. If you copy from & to the same MicroSD it will be slow. Use 2 different storage devices in AO486 if possible. Yes. You need to run the setup without the check for CPU, "setup -nm" I think. If that's wrong a Google search will help find the right command switch. I'd definitely need to house my MiSTer in that old A600 if this comes to fruition. I was actually on the list for a Vampire 600 but opted to get the MiSTer instead.
