I can't post a link here as nefarious scumbags who do not legitimately own every single piece of software used would be inclined to download it illegally

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Maybe it's something to do with me having activated the VGA scaler in order to be able to use filters. If this had the internal filters I'd just use HQ2X. This monitor is prety damn robust when it comes to displaying signals (I did have it set for 1600x1200@60 over VGA but the ao486 core looks nicer with 800x600). It's the HP LP2065 monitor. Unfort...

Re: Installing 98lite with SE & 95 (Guide)
Oh, sorry, I was assuming there was room on the SD card for a backup, so you'd just copy from/to SD without involving network traffic, but I see your point...the slack space on the VHD is ignored by Ghost but copied by Linux. Maybe your strategy is faster (on a clean install, at least) after all. =) Yeah, even on my modern Win10 PC I keep the OS d...

Re: Installing 98lite with SE & 95 (Guide)
Just one tip - rather than cloning in-skin, it's far easier to just ssh into the MiSTer itself (without the vhd mounted or the core running, naturally!) and just make a backup/copy of the vhd from the command line. (It's also FAR faster.) Thanks. My idea was to make the Windows C: partition as sleek as possible & be able to backup that to the ...

Installing 98lite with SE & 95 (Guide)
For anyone interested, I got 98lite "sleek" and "micro" installed & booting. Used 98SE retail, and 95b retail (cache 37 tested -40 failed). Never use 95C for 98lite install. Quick guide for how I did it (you can do it differently, but read for important error info): Created VHD 4gb in Windows. In ao486 used fdisk in from 98S...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
The "out of sync" issue with cache 41 wasn't limited to ao486 core - the actual menu screen wasn't showing after turning the MiSTer on so I couldn't see anything to actually access ao486 or anything else! Changing back to the old MiSTer file sorts the menu out, but cache 41 complains it can't see any boot devices. EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot t...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
With the new MiSTer files for cache 41 my monitor says "signal out of range" (set at stock 800x600@60). Even main menu isn't displaying.

Re: I think my DE10 is fried
Glad your new DE10 nano is working. Stripped mine down, definitely HDMI is dead. I managed to get 1600x1200 out @60 over VGA. It's a bit annoying to lose ability to connect monitor & TV at same time, but I'm now thinking it's not really worth £110 just for that functionality. Maybe I'll stick to VGA. Are there any other reasons I'd want/need HD...

Re: I think my DE10 is fried
I'm usually pretty careful. I guess I was careless plugging the HDMI cable into a monitor while it was turned on.

Re: I think my DE10 is fried
Yes, was a full MiSTer with IO board. I tried a fresh install on another microSD & same thing, no signal from HDMI. My only option now is to dismantle the MiSTer & rebuild, I'm hoping that "resets" everything. I recall my dad's PC stopped working after a thunderstorm once. My guess was the BIOS was corrupted & told him to pull...

Re: Using CD images with AO486
I wonder if you could use DriveDroid on an android phone to simulate a USB CD/DVD drive that'd work in Win98SE. That way you could just eject & insert bin/iso's on the phone to swap disks.

Re: Pushing ao486 core to its limits: Diablo II, Age of Empires, Simcity 3000, Starcraft -Win98SE
There's always something fascinating about pushing something to it's limits & beyond. The MiSTer itself is a good example of hardware constantly being pushed farther & farther. Look at what the humble c64 can do in 2020 - modern demo's would've seemed impossible back in 1982 (& wouldn't have been). If you get you're kicks out of just us...

Re: I think my DE10 is fried
This just happened with my board after connecting to a new monitor HDMI has stopped working altogether. VGA still works (I want to use HDMI for certain cores on a different display).
Will investigate some more, no doubt whilst uttering innumerable obscenities.

Have you tried the replacement DOS32A extender? I remember using it years ago & found it considerably faster for some games.

Re: Spectrum core problem - Black screen
For Speccy do you have the spectrum ROM in the folder?
"Installation:
Copy the *.rbf and spectrum.rom files to the root of the SD card."
ROM can be found in the "releases" folder:
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/ZX-Spec ... ectrum.rom
Just copy it into same folder as the .rbf file.

Re: Amstrad Core
Could be a r/w protection thing. Some emulators won't write to zip files & if a program requires the disk to be write enabled it may cause problems. Same could be true of this core. I'm not sure why a demo would need to write to a disk though.

Allow me to take out my teaspoon, produce a small pot of shit and give it a thorough stir...
No one ever seems to mention that machines like the C64 had chips with analogue components (SID & VIC-II) which FPGA's can only approximate*.
*Note the diplomatic avoidance of the word "emulate"!l

https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&onglet=dumps&num=8746 The Demo (UK) (128K) (2 faces) (1991) (CPM) [Original] [DEMO].zip run on MiST but not on MiSTer Can the core run games from zip files? I didn't think any of the MiSTer cores could. Maybe I've just not read enough yet, but I'd try unzipping it & seeing if that works.

Here's a working memory resident, unofficial "Action Replay IV": https://www.planetemu.net/rom/commodore-amiga-applications/action-replay-4-beta-1993-aga-cr-paradox-interpol I only did a quick test using basic A1200 settings.
