Re: Filters / Scanlines
From what the internets tell me, SuperBabyHix is correct here -- VGA hardware would scandouble 320x200 to 640x400. (On a CRT you would still get thin scanlines, but not "chunky" ones like 200p would have given you.) I found an example of "chunky" scanlines from a computer game on a CRT (composite / CGA): https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: How does ao486 handle 70 Hz DOS games? (i.e. almost all DOS games?)
Would refresh rate tools like VBEHz or UniRefresh apply [be able to be used] here? I remember running it late DOS-era for programs that flickered pretty badly otherwise (60Hz?).

I personally miss the [seek] sound of a IBM PC XT harddrive, and would enjoy the option of turning it on, perhaps, in the ao486 core.

Re: 8bitdo USB adapter gets stuck and registers no input after hard reboot
What power supply are you using? I had a scenario that I am guessing is do to power: I moved my mister into my office for some testing, with the original 2A PSU, wired kbd, wifi, and an old wired controller with rumble. After some use, the controller went fritzy and the only thing it would do is rumble. I tried unplugging the wired controller and p...

There was a merged PR for this [1], but it looks like there has not been a release since then [2].

No idea on a specific fix, though.

True, I do see it "abused" on some forums. I've noticed certain posters would almost always get "liked" by the same group of users, regardless of if the post was useful or not.

"Liking" Posts?
Maybe I am mixing up phpbb and vbulletin -- if phpbb has a way to add "liking" a post, any thoughts on adding it?
I don't particularly like posting "I like this" or "me too", but don't mind "liking" a post (e.g., somewhat similar to an "upvote" on a feature request).

Re: Scanlines and highlight protection
Here are the same images with Normal_Scanlines_030. Subjectively, looking at them on my computer monitor now, the brightness of the filters I modified, to me, feel about halfway between Normal_Scanlines_030 and the original "Scanlines (Sharp)" filter. "Scanlines (Sharp)" is a copy of SL_Br_120_070_Sharp. I think I might go back ...

Re: Gamma correction over VGA
I think you misunderstand me. With different mister.ini settings, it's possible to disable the scaler, and therefore the filters, over VGA. I was wondering if there was a way to extend this functionality to the gamma correction as well. Ah, yes, sorry, my mistake. My guess is the framework (and the individual cores) would need to support th...

Scanlines and highlight protection
After staring at CPS1 games for a while, I felt like something was a bit "off" when using the "Scanlines (Sharp)" filter. (And I was not much of a fan of "Scanlines (Soft)".) I was not sure if it was sharpening, or something else. I started to focus in on some of the character models, especially the brighter colors, an...

Re: Gamma correction over VGA
Can the gamma be changed to work like the filters? You could possibly recreate a limited subset of filter functionality in a gamma LUT. They tend to be rather different beasts, however. (And in reverse, a gamma LUT can have more granularity than could be reproduced with a filter, due to the phase count [and tap count?] of filters.) The filters are...

Re: Script to update only "revisions" (subset of alternatives) MRA files?
I've not heard of anything like that but some time ago so I don't know what the currents plans are with this but talking to brNX ages ago he did say that he was wanting to seperate the alternative MRAs into directories of official releases such as revisions and unoficial releases like the HBMAME hacks. (snip) Thanks for chiming in on this. It is a...

Re: Blank screen when I load the core
I had a similar issue and it was the FTP method I was using to transfer the Roms to the SD card. When I changed the transfer method to binary from auto it resolved the issue. Strangely enough it only happened on NeoGeo Roms. This is probably due to the default FTP client settings and behavior with regards to transfer mode. FTP clients "tradit...

Script to update only "revisions" (subset of alternatives) MRA files?
Before I look into trying to create my own, does anyone know of a script already out there, to borrow some nomenclature from everdrive packs, official "revisions" of releases? In an effort to help "tame" the core list, I am looking to only bring those, in an automated fashion, at least. And manually "cherry pick" any h...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread
Would it be possible to use 'video_mode' to create a 1200p in a 1080p window like the ossc and analogue products do? Sacrificing some of the top and bottom of the picture to get fullscreen integer scaling. I would love to have such a feature. I mentioned this in my ["ranty"] thread about vertical scrollers. I went back through sev...

Integer scaling and vertical scrollers
Background: I have most cores that I use setup to with integer scaling and scanlines, which works great most of the time. I prefer the look of scanlines, but only when they are evenly spaced, which only appears possible with integer scaling. I have been using Gaussian_Sharp_07 as my fallback with either "vscale_mode=0" [fit the height] or...

Refresh min/max
Has anyone tried out setting refresh_min/refresh_max? I was wondering what meaningful values might be. Like, how strict or lax of a range. For example, to keep from going out of sync on NTSC, for example, with PAL modes, would something like this be good? (Looks like values are UINT8, so guessing whole numbers here?) refresh_min=58 ; vs, say 59 ref...
