MiSTerized C64 Kernal

Hi all, this is completely pointless but I decided to alter the kernal for my C64 core to make it more MiSTer like. No changes to the functionality of the rom itself, just text changes. Thought I'd share it here in case anyone else wanted to use it. 20210102_144836-screen.png To use the rom, extract from the .zip file and place it in your C64 games...

Re: Remap "Restore" Key or Cartridge Button Key?

After testing this out today and being unable to find a solution, I have raised a git issue.
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/C64_MiSTer/issues/53

Not sure if there'll be any traction on this but at least the devs are now aware and can decide if it's something they want to look at

Re: Remap "Restore" Key or Cartridge Button Key?

Sorry, just checked the documentation and yes, restore is also mapped to F11 :(

I'll set mine up later and have a play around

Alternative spectrum ROM

Hi all

Just read this article and thought I'd share it with everyone.
Basically, it's a replacement ROM file for the speccy with basic removed but different features added.
I'll be having a play with it tomorrow but wanted to share it with other speccy fans

Re: Coco 2 + Mantra Alice + Dragon 32/64

Thank you guys so much for this core!!!
The Dragon32 was my first computer and I've wanted a core for it ever since getting my MiSTer
I'll be spending quite a lot of time with this core.

Thanks again, it's very much appreciated

Re: VGA to VGA or HDMI to DVI-I connection?

Personally, I would go with HDMI to DVI as this uses purely digital signals.
I would only use VGA if the screen was CRT

Note Stardot will not host an image with 4mation software (Granny's Garden).
Now that explains a lot!

I really want to play Grannys Garden again. I've been waiting for floppy support for the core

GB and GBC audio chips decap[ped and compared

Great news for the GB and GBC fans out there. The audio ICs from each system have been decapped and reverse engineered so that they can be compared. This could lead the way to someone making improvements to the GB and GBC audio parts of the core

Re: Loading Multiple Disk Games.

I haven't played any multi disk games but I do run lots of demos and they usually ask you to flip / swap the disk, I just use F12 to load the next disk.

Please excuse the cabling. It's going to get redone soon but I'd already spent hours on it yesterday and had had enough.

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers

Here's what I've been working on all afternoon. The case is an old DVR unit that was getting thrown away at work. I saw it and decided it was perfect for the MiSTer.

Hope you like.....

I haven't yet had the chance to play with this machine but I've just looked at the project page and was blown away by the detail you've added.
THIS is an amazing example of great supporting documentation for a core.

Well done sir!! I look forward to spending some time with your creation.

Thanks for all the effort you put in to it

Can't type a backslash

Has anyone else had a problem with the \ key not working?
I've tried all sorts of things and just cannot get a \ on the screen.
Kinda makes using DOS difficult :)

Re: FTP Browse to USB Drive?

I don't know if this will help as I don't use FTP, I just use samba. I've made my own personal wiki to help me remember certain things. He is the section I've got for creating a samba share :- Enable Samba file sharing Official wiki page By default Samba service is not active. You need to rename /media/fat/linux/_samba.sh to linux/samba.sh, then ed...

Re: Commodore 128 for the MiSTer?

I for one would love to have a C128 core because I've never really had the chance to play with one. I don't think that it'd be too difficult, I think it's more that the current core devs are concentrating on the cores they'd actually like to use instead. It's all down to personal choice. If I were a FPGA dev, I'd have it near the top of my list (af...

Plus with AR6, you get all the extras such as a machine code monitor (if that's your thing), poke finder, sprite editor and all sorts of other useful tools.
I even created a blank floppy image the other day and swapped some sprites between games. Completely pointless bu I had fun nontheless :D

Re: Jiffy Dos vs base kernel vs ??

I have my Action Replay cartridge file renamed so that it's auto connected when I boot the core..... just like the good old days :) I've never used JiffyDos as I don't have a floppy drive for my real C64. I was going to build an SD2IEC device but then I bought a MiSTer and the C64 now stays in its box. but I digress.... I find the AR cart to be per...

Re: EDSAC core

I'd love to see this added as a main core.
While I do enjoy gaming on the MiSTer, my main interest is retro computing and getting to play with all the systems I either grew up with or would normally never get the chance to play with.
Aye from me sir
