You can use backspace to eject a floppy instead of inserting one when you are inserting a new floppy.
I do not think the core supports zipped ADFs... but some cores do support zipped ROMs. I guess it might be possible to add such a feature to this core.

Re: C64 OS
I got it working. I think the issue was that I was using DolphinDOS, either that or it was an issue with the real time clock feature.
But now it runs Still trying out the different features. The developer told me that for now DolphinDOS is not support by C64OS, so that is likely to have been the reason.

Re: Why Doesn’t the Lion King Run Well on the AO486 Core?
Pretty sure a large part of the AO486 core was actually auto-translated from an emulator, and that was part of why they had to spend a pretty long time optimizing that code, because the logic was quite messy because of it.

Re: SD2IEC Support?
I got C64OS to run on my MiSTer :) Not sure what the problem was, but it might have been DolphinDOS. Pretty sure I had tried without it though. Might have been because I now disabled the clock. Still, this thread is about whether it would be possible to get SD2IEC support added to the MiSTer inherently as part of the core, using the MiSTers own fil...

Re: SD2IEC Support?
Sorry, i meant links to the videos you wrote about. There are already at least two different videos from different MiSTer owners running C64OS this way. Maybe the sdrive is not 100% compatible to the sd2iec because of a different Firmware?! Just an Idea. That was my thought to begin with... but given how it works just fine with both my Turbo Chame...

But PCem is also open source, and there are other emulators as well that are, and many FPGA cores were built based on emulators.
So that ought to help create a new 486 core if someone did take on such a project?

Re: SD2IEC Support?
Could you post a video link please, thx. And do you use an real sd2iec or the sdrive device from the other thread? It is the Sdrive device, but that is just one of many SD2IEC devices. I also tested it with the Ultimate 64 and the Turbo Chameleon 64, works with both of those. For some reason it wont fully load on the MiSTer. Not sure what to show ...

Re: SD2IEC Support?
Yes, and I have that and I have problems with it… Is your SD2IEC not working at all with your SNAC2IEC Adapter or do you have your problems only with the C64OS? It is working, I have not yet tried it out in depth. Just that C64OS consistently stops at a certain point when loading C64OS. I do not know why, I tried another SD card, but that did not ...

Re: Why Doesn’t the Lion King Run Well on the AO486 Core?
I think its a small miracly that the AO486 core has come as far as it has. I do think the Lion King is probably a good example of cache and or memory issues that it still has. But I think it finally got rid of certain mouse problems it had. So you can play Red Alert or Command And Conquer for hours and not always run into that bug where you suddenl...

Re: SD2IEC Support?
Forgive my ignorance but what advantage would there be to implementing SD2IEC over the existing MiSTer disk / tape / cart handling methods? I've never actually used an SD2IEC though so don't have anything to compare the two Storage capacity. C64OS is one of few apps that actually uses it, otherwise SD2IEC is just used to store floppy disks and suc...

Re: Any chance to add Tandy sound to ao486?
As Jordi said, this is the whole point of the PCXT core. It often makes more sense to make several different cores supporting different hardware instead of cramming it all into one. If one person understands all the hardware, then it might work, but its not enough to make an FPGA that supports the hardware, Tandy also needs a BIOS ROM, so to get th...

Re: SD2IEC Support?
Has anyone tried to implement SD2IEC support in the C64 or other Commodore cores? It works, but you need a SNAC2IEC adapter which you already have, I think. See here for Adapter Details: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=4469 The Adapter works also with the PI1541 and some other real CBM Hardware and MiSTer Cores (C128/C16). Some Videos: http...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.
Can anyone get a floppy to boot? I can't get either my image file for the Tandy DOS diskette or the one in Caldor's download to boot on either Tandy or PCXT. Dos boots fine on PCXT from hdd. Press A during the boot, and it should boot from the floppy drive. Get the newest version of the core and MiSTer Main, it has support for AO486 floppy drives ...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.
The 500mb drive, if its unformatted and such, needs to be formatted as a system drive. I have been trying to get a drive formatted with FreeDOS to boot with MSDOS, and could not get that to work because apparantly its not enough to replace the system files. I think there is a bootsector or something it needs. After you have done that, you can use A...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.
What is the largest harddrive image you can mount for this core? I think it might be 500mb. That is the highest I have gotten to work anyway. Might not work with all the firmwares. In theory I think it should be possible to use up to 2gb images, but I have not tried. Hmm, come to think of it, we can run FreeDOS on this core, and that might make it...

Re: FDD Support Based on ao486 Implementation
Could we maybe get serial mouse support merged with this? Sounds like the problem with it is that it has conflicts with interrupts from Serdrive, but we could possibly get around that if we just boot from floppy instead since this floppy version is IDE based?

So... a simple solution might be to boot from a floppy and mouse should work? That is, boot from a floppy and not have any HDD at all, to avoid the HDD from disrupting the mouse?
Amazing how many of the things that seems to be bugs and problems are really just the core acting the way its supposed to

There is also an FPGA developer that contacted me, interested in trying to get CD32 support for the MiSTer. He is working on other cores as well though. Any update on this? No, it has been pretty quiet. There was a release of the Minimig core on the TC64 though that adds CD support, with CD audio from what I could find. That might get ported to th...

Re: Mouse Support Over the COM2 Port in PCXT Core
Ahh, that sounds like some good progress :) Once mouse is working I plan on making some more videos of this core. I have been testing several games and found a collection I want to show off that uses CGA and Tandy graphics, but I have a few games that I want to show in those that actually refuse to load if no mouse is detected. Most games do suppor...
