Re: PlayStation Core SPU audio For Single SDRAM Released

No CRT support any more?, or at least it doesnt work with the latest build CRT works fine. I use direct video and it has finally been fixed - no more lines across the screen. How do you set the core to use direct video, is there soming in the mister.ini you adjusted? Yes, the normal way. Direct video and composite sync is enabled in mister.ini. Cr...

Yes, if you set direct_video=0.

I've tried them all and they are good efforts, but there were still some scaling artifacts present (mostly vertical).
What do you mean? That turns it off?

Re: About the temperatures of this new PSX core

his is a fpga thing a lot of people don't cover or seem to care about - that fpga uses a LOT less power than emulation, so it's more environmentally friendly. Every little helps. Right until half of us hook it up to our damned CRTs. :P Although there are surprising # of people who do that even with software emulators. Not just Wiis but analog Pi h...

Re: How worth it is MiSTer on a modern TV?

I was planning on getting an OSSC in order to play my real consoles on a modern tv but went with a Mister instead. In my opinion, a much better choice.

In the end I decided to get a CRT too, though, so I still don't use the Mister on a modern tv.

Re: CRT vs. LCD "Disadvantage of CRT with Cores"

I only have a crt connected and sometimes if I try a core will not work at all because they use an incompatible video mode, so I have to restart the Mister. That’s kinda annoying. Feels like I’m missing out. Some examples include ao486, X68000, Pc-88…

I’m never getting an lcd, though!

Where do you get .mcd files?

Hello!

I cannot find anything about the memory card files. .mcd

I tried making empty text files and renaming them from New document.txt into 1.mcd. Is that enough?

Re: Cannot get anything to work since the PSX rename

It still doesn't work after renaming the games folder, deleting the settings file and updating the mister file. I used the file MiSTer_unstable_20211222_61a0 and renamed it to MiSTer and replaced the file that was already there in the SD card root.

What am I doing wrong?

It worked just fine before the rename.

Re: SDRAM capacitor broken

You cannot reuse the broken one, it’s cracked and ceramic capacitors typically short when cracked, which means if you manage to solder it back, you may kill the entire Mister.

It is not necessary to have it, so leave it alone.

Nothing unusual about that tape on the heat sink. That’s the tape that’s typically used. Thermal transfer isn’t very critical since the plastic package of the FPGA chip is the bigger bottleneck.

Re: Terasic DE10 Nano Price Increase

I work in the electronics industry, mostly industrial stuff. Parts are getting seriously difficult to find (and the FPGAs are gone) even “simple” stuff like discretes and connectors! We’re starting to rely more and more on the spot market and those prices can be 10-100 times higher than normal - or more! “Scalpers” are a huge problem in this space....

Re: Commodore 1084 emulation using shadow masks and scanlines

The 1084 monitors aren’t all built alike, there are many variants even if they look alike from the outside, and you can even tweak its look by changing the sharpness on the flyback transformer, so the 1084 doesn’t really have its own discrete look.

Re: HD Support for WB 2.04 and 1.3.3?

I just noticed that one of my 2.05 has HD in it, but rom version is 37.300, not 37.350. Will test this rom tonight. IIRC 37.300 has a 40MB limit on hard disks, you'd be much better of sourcing the 37.350 rom. My A600 (non HD) has 37.300 and takes a 2GB CF card without issues. Single partition, all space is available. Only difference between 37.300...

Re: Are PVMs still unique?

These are unique! One of the best features of PVMs for me over any other display for legacy / retro hardware is their ability to natively sync with not just NTSC, but also PAL/SECAM, as well as a lot of the various wacky arcade PCB refresh rates. Basically a PVM lets you natively display any SD era console/computer across worldwide regions without...

The wiki is not being maintained and is not up to date on pretty much anything. It’s practically just a source of disinformation at this point. It caused a lot of unnecessary confusion and frustration for me when I first got started on the Mister.

Jumpers JP1 and JP2 on SNAC board

Hi!

What are the jumpers JP1 and JP2 on the USB3 SNAC board (latest revision) for? I cannot find any mention of this anywhere, and there is no documentation for SNAC.

For the record, I have both bridged and it seems to work. I am using a Mega Drive 6 button controller.

I have a home-made cheap cardboard and duct-tape case around it and unless I know for sure that's the problem, I don't want to cut it open. It's annoying but not enough for that. Cardboard and tape are some of the worst things to expose electronics to. ESD damage usually presents itself in the form of intermittent problems such as the ones you’re ...

I'm interested in putting this PCB in a ITX case so I've got a few questions: a) Can you still output VGA to SCART like the regular MiSTer IO board ? b) Are the pins for USB 2.0, power and LED indicators compatible with regular PC cases out of the box? c) Do you think it will fit inside a Akasa Cypher MX (208 x 203 x 45mm) case together with a 2.5...
