Re: Composite blend filters are hurting my eyes.

I generally use the soft scanline modes right now as they give a decent look. They’re built-in usually in the second page of settings.

The aperture grill ones were in MAME, so I’m not sure if they can be used or not. It’s worth looking into though. Maybe I’ll try experimenting with that when I get a minute, and report back.

Re: Composite blend filters are hurting my eyes.

Oh! I wasn’t suggesting using an actual CRT, but rather scanline or filter settings that more resemble the higher end monitors of yesteryear. The 1084 was Commodore’s 15KHz RGB monitor, and the Diamond Scan was a nice Mitsubishi RGB from the 16 bit era. Basically, the look would be softer scan lines, in order to remove the hard-edges blockiness tha...

Re: Composite blend filters are hurting my eyes.

I get the nostalgia factor for filters in some cases. Especially in cases where you wouldn’t have seen completely square pixels due to 15KHz scan as opposed to 31KHz (difference between many RGB or lower CRTs and say VGA). In those cases though, why not use a scanline mode that mimics something higher end, yet still from the same time period. Like ...

Re: CD ROM ROMs requires RAM?

Thanks! I haven't read the readme for probably a year now (since close to when I originally set mine up). I should do that once in a while. :)

Re: CD ROM ROMs requires RAM?

I'm curious if this was determined to be the image, or if some PCCDs actually need SDRAM. It sounds from the last few posts that it's not, however the last post about some games requiring 128MB means any RAM or SDRAM specifically. The reason I'm curious is that I'm building a second MiSTer that's going to be solely for PC Engine and PCCD use. I hav...

Re: Donate PCBs (Part 2)

I was kind of curious about this as well. I’ve had my eye on an Air Buster board, and have no interest in running the actual board. However, I’d LOVE to have the game on the MiSTer. I don’t know why I love it as much as I do, but I do. Almost worth buying that board for $850 for science. :D Of course, if it's a working board, then probing it would ...

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers

Here’s my main MiSTer. Posted it a long time ago on the Atari forum. I love it, but it’s not the easiest to move around or take places. 3BAFA5C1-7AF9-474B-BA0E-40FBC9234BCD.jpeg So... I decided today to build a tiny “Sandwich” version using the same anodized aluminum. It’s going to be just barely bigger than the DE10, and PC Engine themed as that’s...

Re: SID Updates!

Love the work you’ve been doing on the C64/SID! It’s MORE than adequate for C64 use. The analog filter project idea is more because a group of friends and I are just C64, SID, and synthesizer nerds, designers, etc. I’m aware of the SID side requirements. I don’t know much about what’s left available on the MiSTer to control it with though. That’s t...

Re: SID Updates!

Looks like a few more today. I ran a bunch of demos yesterday, and things are sounding really good! I still want to make an analog filter module that would plug into some GPIO pins. Then a SID Filter Plugin could be created that would route audio and control signals to the analog filter. The original SID filter is a State Variable filter, but there...
