If you select Original BIOS instead of UniBIOS you also need 000-lo.lo.

Re: JALECO Mega System 1 Release: 20230715 (Saint Dragon)

When a core is created/updated in a repository it is not immediately available via the update script which uses databases (Official core, Jotego core, Atrac cores, ...). These databases have to be updated first. I think they are automatically updated periodically but I am not sure. If an update does not come just wait some time it will come. Right ...

Re: Wonder Boy in Monster Land Core not Working

The rbf in the zip is named BWSEGASYS1 and all the mras refer to this rbf. The mras are only those which are not in the official release. I did this in order to avoid any conflict with the official core. You must have downloaded a different zip.

I don't understand what you mean by " but had to put in it's own folder". If you used the zip mentioned in the link I provided you just put the mras in _Arcade, the alternatives mras in _Arcade/_alternatives and the core in _Arcade/cores.

As I was able to make the previous post without doing anything special the problem has to be something else. I am just curious at what happened.
I just noticed that this thread/sub forum does not offer Quick Reply, only Post a Reply. I checked other threads and Quick Reply is there.

It only works with the unofficial core from Blackwine, it is not part of the official release.

Re: Flight sticks

I am not sure your method would work: renaming the core does not do much besides renaming the core.
It will use the games/ao496 and all the configuration files will be named ao486..., including input mapping.

Re: Flight sticks

More explanation: You mentioned WingCommander which we will use as an example. Create games/WingCommander and place your VHD there. Create _Computer/WingCommander.mgl: <mistergamedescription> <rbf>_Computer/ao486</rbf> <setname>WingCommander</setname> </mistergamedescription> Start your mgl make your settings in the OSD, mount the VHD and save your...

Re: Flight sticks

Regarding the custom keybinds, I am thinking about making duplicate cores for the various games that need it. Basically copy the ao486 core to a "WingCommander" core and just have the one game on the hard drive, and set up and save my custom bindings. There are not that many games that need it that I care about so it seems doable. I woul...

Re: Just Starting Out With MiSTer Some Basic Questions?

Set aside the primary et replace it with the 512MB one (after having prepared it using Mr Fusion).
The secondary SD card is used only by very few cores and is not even necessary as these cores can also use disk images from the primary SD card.

I really do not pay attention. I just start the transfer and come back later to see if it is finished as I do it when I am not using my MISTer.

Re: Not being assigned an IP ethernet?

I always avoid moving the SD card as these connectors are fragile. I always use WinSCP and recently someone said to switch WinSCP from the default SFTP to FTP; this improve the speed considerably.
It is still slow but who cares.

Re: Not being assigned an IP ethernet?

I also forgot to mention the cross-over cable. I did not know that you had a Wi-Fi dongle on your PC so your PC will get a regular IP on Wi-Fi. When you connect your MISTer to your PC via a cable I suppose at that point your wired connection on your PC will get the 169... address because it does not see a DHCP server. By giving fixed IPs to your MI...

Re: Not being assigned an IP ethernet?

You need a DHCP server somewhere, IP addresses do not come out of thin air. If you check the IP on your PC it will be something starting by 169.
One solution would be to connect both your PC and MISTer via a router. If you want to use a direct cable you would have to give a fixed IP both to your PC and MISTer.

Yesterday I did not have a chance to try anything, only did the update. Today is early morning and I just loaded the first 2 mras, planning to test everything later on during the day. Thanks for the tip. Instead of duplicating the rom I edited the mra and changed the rom name to junglek.zip.

The mras where not in the right place in the repository, this is fixed. You may also have run the update all script too early before the roms where made available in Arcade ROMs DB. Run it again.

What I said previously is basically exact. I have the same BIOS files and xml files as yours. Each Darksoft ROM is zipped and is in the NEOGEO directory. For neo ROMs here is an example: I have nblktiger.neo, I did not place it in a subdirectory as I said previously but I zipped it as Neo Black Tiger.zip and it is in the NEOGEO directory. The confu...

I am not so sure of that: On my MISTer I have the Darsoft roms but I also have a few neo ROMs and I have no problem. I cannot access my MISTer right now but if I remember correctly I have the Darksoft ROMs zipped in the NeoGeo folder and each neo ROM in its own directory. For the neo ROMs they can also be in NeoGeo directory but I placed then in th...

Re: External USB Hub?

MISTer has only 1 USB port usable for controllers (and other devices) so a USB hub is generally used (it must be an OTG hub). As long as you use a cable which does not go over the limit there should be no problem. The signals go at near light speed on the cable so it won't add delay.

You also have this IP problem. How do you power the MISTer and the hub? Are you using a splitter? Do you have a switch on the 5V?

Re: My MiSTer Keeps Changing Its (Wired) IP Address All of a Sudden

Strange! Last Linux update was 05/01 so I suppose you would have noticed the problem earlier. If you did not change anything on your router there does not seem to have any reason for renewing the lease.
You could put your MISTer in fixed IP and see what it gives.
