What type of screens (type of chip that the display is driven by)? We're experimenting with ILI9341 based display for now...

Re: i2c2oled (little brother of tty2oled)

That looks a cool little thing. Can you animate the images ? Was thinking something like an animated 1541 drive would be superb, or for Atari - the 1050, or even a 1010 cassette drive. We, Venice and myself, are already working on the next level of core display. There, and with the actual tty2oled devices (ESP8266, ESP32), it would be possible in ...

I don't think the Bash Script is fast enough but an (C/C++) Program should support that.
Like I wrote, there is space for improvement.
Bash's speed would be sufficient for sure. But display's speed? Dunno. The easiest way for an animation would be a small set of pictures, sent one after one. We'll see...

Obligatory NOT A DEV :D I just wanted to know if something like this is feasible...a script that runs on a PC and "listens" and logs things from a MiSTer connected to the same network. Use Case: I stream on Twitch using the MiSTer and I'd love to have a way to change a specific text file on my PC when switching Game/Core on the MiSTer. T...

This is the setup of my (first) MiSTer. I called it "MiST(er)2Go" as it's a portable system of MiST, MiSTer and a WeTek Hub (CoreELEC). It's not a beauty, but an unremarkable case I'm carrying along when traveling. No tedium guaranteed.

Re: Running MiSTer on 12 Volts?

Are there any components that could step down a 12V source into 5V, but still passthrough 12V? Would be very useful for modding arcade setups that need 12V for the screen (and maybe for the amp). The only thing that I found that does this is the power part of an IDE hard drive adapter (suggested by Sorgelig long ago in another thread); but it's a ...

Re: tty2oled Software Add-On now with SD Support (Show Text/Pictures based on loaded Core on Display)

I'd also love to see this supported with the MT32-pi, but that connects to the user port, which, if I'm not mistaking, connects to the FPGA. So the core itself would have to display its logo on it and the MT32-pi would need functionality added to make this possible. If I understand you correctly what you intend to do, this wouldn't work. The MT32-...

Re: CD-Rom support under DOS

As this seems to be the relevant topic, I just thought I'd share my findings about which DOS mode CD drivers work: OAKCDROM.SYS - Oak generic driver, it's the one that comes with the Windows boot disk, but it's also slow to start and consumes by far the most memory. VIDE-CDD.SYS - Acer driver, this one gets recommended regularly on Vogons as it's ...

Re: Atari 8-Bit Computers

You're absolutely right. I wish someone would create a small interface for MiSTer's GPIO<->SIO to be able to connect all Atari devices which are using SIO bus.
Should be doable with no great witchcraft as very similar interfaces exists for Arduino, PCs and many others. The tricky part would be to implement this into the atari800 core...

The actual bios file is in there, in releases directory, but, to get it completely working, a different bios may be required, and, that one hasn't been implemented, at all, afaik, although, there is apparently, a closed source bios, floating around, that works, I might have actually seen a system using this bios that seems to be doing pretty good,...

Just tested with some random CARtridges, especially Space Harrier (2018) and even Atarimax Cartridges - but all of them are working fine.
With the Atarimax ones I'd to exit to MiSTer menue sometimes and to re-enter the core to get them work. (128MB SDRAM, core atari800-20200509)
