Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Have you tried the replacement DOS32A extender? I remember using it years ago & found it considerably faster for some games.

Re: Spectrum core problem - Black screen
For Speccy do you have the spectrum ROM in the folder?
"Installation:
Copy the *.rbf and spectrum.rom files to the root of the SD card."
ROM can be found in the "releases" folder:
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/ZX-Spec ... ectrum.rom
Just copy it into same folder as the .rbf file.

Re: Amstrad Core
Could be a r/w protection thing. Some emulators won't write to zip files & if a program requires the disk to be write enabled it may cause problems. Same could be true of this core. I'm not sure why a demo would need to write to a disk though.

Re: Flash cartridges with original hardware are basically FPGA already?
Allow me to take out my teaspoon, produce a small pot of shit and give it a thorough stir...
No one ever seems to mention that machines like the C64 had chips with analogue components (SID & VIC-II) which FPGA's can only approximate*.
*Note the diplomatic avoidance of the word "emulate"!l

https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&onglet=dumps&num=8746 The Demo (UK) (128K) (2 faces) (1991) (CPM) [Original] [DEMO].zip run on MiST but not on MiSTer Can the core run games from zip files? I didn't think any of the MiSTer cores could. Maybe I've just not read enough yet, but I'd try unzipping it & seeing if that works.

Re: Action Replay roms
Here's a working memory resident, unofficial "Action Replay IV": https://www.planetemu.net/rom/commodore-amiga-applications/action-replay-4-beta-1993-aga-cr-paradox-interpol I only did a quick test using basic A1200 settings. I used to use this all the time on my real A1200 back in the good old days. I too was looking for AR support, hope...
