Re: Additional Script to Create BIOS ROM
This post is for users who don't have Linux or don't want to install Python on their Windows system, sorry Mac users. I did not feel like installing Python on my Window systems, as All MiSTer users have a Linux with Python available. F9 console or SSH... So far running those BIOS scripts has worked just fine for me on the HPS Linux. Mac systems co...

Re: ao486 Performance Benchmarks
Is there a way to change the setting from DOS so it can be put into a .BAT file? It would also be cool to be able to check the setting and if it is not a match, change it and reboot in the batch file, then next time it will be correct and proceed to launch the program (if a reboot is needed to make it work right). https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/a...

Re: Hardware Rendering Possible?
So there is nothing that can be done with the chip in this case? Not even sound or some type of offloading ? ALSA on the HPS Linux is already using the FPGA for PCM sound. Additionally, You could probably use the FPGA for OPL3 using the RetroWave protocol (which ScummVM supports) https://github.com/SudoMaker/RetroWave/tree/master/RetroWaveLib/Prot...

And I assume this does not happen in the OSD menu or cores?
I don't have a bluetooth adapter for my MiSTer to test.
Does anyone else use Bluetooth with the ScummVM builds and have the same issue - or no issue?

oot user, make sure to add that user to the dialout group. If you're running as root, it should work automatically. I think maybe ppp starts automatically, so you might need to disable that if you want to use SLiRP instead. I'm trying to figure out how ppp is started, so you can disable it. second edit: after some experimentation, it looks like th...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
It's such an unstable core that I hardly had time. IMO, it really shouldn't be distributed in its present sad state. Entitled comments like that are certainly not going to encourage any developers (such as alanswx) who have spent time making substantial incremental improvements to this core over time... Also, how do you propose testing people test...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
Who wants 6.x anyway? 5.5 for the win! The 6.x IDE sucks, mainly because the window borders take 2 of the 80 columns. Can't remember if there was anything significant in 6.x vs 5.x beyond Turbo Vision. That is a shame. I really loved the IDE and used in my daily job in the 90's. It even inspired xwpe for Linux/Unix which I also used. the User Manu...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
Can you tell me more about these CRT patches? I will search on the web for the time being. Thanks for the info. The CRT unit has timing functions/procedures(or something) that cause the program to bomb on fast computers. There are CRT replacements that are much better so its better to avoid CRT anyway :) It's definitely not relevant for PCXT but I...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
You must be referring to Delphi which I use on Windows. The ReadMe of Turbo Pascal V7 says it requires a 286. No, TP7 works fine on PCXT core... I use the IDE and debugger frequently on PCXT. There was a version of Delphi/TP7 bundle sold. Maybe that is what the README refers to... Or maybe the Turbo Vision UI library needs a 286... But I thought t...

Re: MiSTer PCXT
I was just there a few minutes ago for Turbo Pascal. V3 is tiny (1x360K floppy) and fast but lacks in libraries. V6 is the last version supporting PC/XT and can also run/generate code for 286 (5x360K floppies), the 2.25MB one is complete. 7.0 is what I use :) I have all CRT patches installed, but I don't use CRT unit... For c I use Turbo C 3.0 Bot...

The result is that savefiles on the 2.6, cannot be used on 2.5.1 or earlier. They return a "Invalid version" when trying to load the savefile. Well, that is a bummer... This is awesome. Does anyone know if there is an Amiga BBS that hosts the game Hack 'n Slash? I used to love playing that game in college. I have re-enabled this COM2 feature to /dev/ttyS1 , I attach binary, can you check its correct working? Yes, it works! I made First Contact with the 13Th level BBS! Re: UX for the Poor 8088
Thanks, it has some bugs, (I'm not really an experienced programmer), but it worked well for me, even in a real 286 pc, so maybe the tsr's are doing something, or my code has some memory leaks :) I forgot to mention (as I corrected this in my WIP fork where I added the param support) but I did notice a file handle leak in Set_Map(), but no memory ...

Re: 8-bit Sound Cards
I would support that idea, even though it was specific to some IBM chipsets and not an actual 8-bit card, but I think it might be easier and possibly make more sense just to go with a basic 8-bit VGA card that would support 320x200x256 and 640x480x16, and EGA modes: I'd argue its not easier... MCGA is like two modes, maybe one we care about(13h), ...

Re: 8-bit Sound Cards
The Hercules graphics would be more interesting for this core, but would have to be developed from scratch. Hercules adapters were great for doing desktop publishing back in the day on a cheap MDA monitor. Ignore the amber color and the resolution was like a fancy MAC. MCGA might also be interesting. It is basically just CGA with 64K RAM (vs 16K) ...

Re: PCXT Core 10Mhz CPU Speed Possible?
And then, of course, I had to do the whole low-level format dance, typing in the known bad sectors into the horrible interface, and determining (through experimentation -- no docs) the sector interleave. I think the fastest mode ended up being 3:1. I had to try each interleave separately, doing a new low-level format, partitioning the drive, doing...
