Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)

Which component cable did you order? I ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZMV7RL2/ and this (as a comment in the reviews from someone specifically called out that it worked with the MiSTer....more people should do that!): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F3WVV99/ I am fairly certain this combo will work as I have seen many repo...

Re: HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)

I went ahead and ordered that adapter I linked in the beginning of this thread and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow. No skin off my nose if it does not work as I can always return it. I am just curious to see if it actually works. I will update with my results. EDIT: And, it didn't work ;) I didn't expect it to and have the Rankie HDMI to VGA on o...

HDMI to Component (for old JVC CRT TV)

So this weekend I scored a pretty nice working 32inch JVC CRT TV circa 2003. It has component connections which I have tested with a component ready DVD player and the picture looks great. Now time to get my MiSTer to it. I am aware of the ini settings that will need to be changed, not a problem. But I am curious as to what adapter or cable to buy....

Re: Colecovision Keypad Keys?

That's interesting, I wonder if it would work as well. However, coming from the Colecovision era (I grew up with this console, Atari's etc) I will say that the controller is not really so great. I think the Jaguar controller will be perfect for this as it is much more comfortable and it provides the keypad. And, Jag controllers are super easy to ob...

Re: 3D Glasses Support via Anaglyph (3D Movie Red/Cyan) Glasses

I downloaded your cores. Pretty cool. Unfortunately I do not have a 3D TV (never have!) but I will hang on to these just in case that changes someday. Thank you. I see how the 3D works (side by side options) which is pretty cool. Still I would really love to see the old school anaglyph option added to the core someday if possible. This way at least...

Re: MiSTer HDMI display cut off on right and left

Actually, two problems solved ;) As the TV when in DVI mode is different than HDMI (all HDMI options are greyed out in the OSD) the screen does not get cut off at all. I did have to change the resolution to 1366x768 as this TV displays 1080P over DVI kind of blurry, but as a bonus at 1366 the scanlines look more true to a CRT. Thanks for the tip! A...

Re: MiSTer HDMI display cut off on right and left

EDIT: While I am at it with HDMI, one other unrelated question maybe someone has an answer to. Very simply, is there a way to disable HDMI audio completely? I use a digital IO board and using digital optical audio. My soundbar is connected to that as well as to the TV's audio for my consoles. Problem is as the MiSTer is outputting audio always ove...

The System 16 hardware is my favorite Sega arcade hardware (with the Sega System 1 hardware a close 2nd) and I will host a party when it is released. Of course it will be just me at that party, but I will certainly have beer!

Re: Most Compatible BIOS files for MegaCD Core?

My issue ended up being incorrect region free BIOS files. The set I obtained were tested on real hardware (from what the readme said) but would freeze on the core. I obtained an alternate set from an unnamed individual (thanks unnamed individual!) and it worked as expected. I had a feeling this was the issue.

Re: What Does "BIOS Enable" Do?

At least if you have the BIOS files extracted to .sms ROM format you can load them that way in the core. That's how I sometimes play the snail maze game (and relive the nostalgia!).

MiSTer HDMI display cut off on right and left

I have been struggling with this since I built my MiSTer, so maybe someone can help. I have a cheap Polaroid 1080P TV (32 inch I believe) that I have been using with old consoles, computers, etc via items like the OSSC, Retrotink, etc for a long time. They all display just fine without any issue with the screen being cut off on the left and the rig...

Re: Floppy drive sounds

I agree that the floppy drive sounds are certainly a part of the experience. The Gotek floppy emulator has the ability to add a speaker for these sounds when used with vintage computers (such as the Amiga, ST, etc) and not only is it a nostalgic thing but is actually useful for audible load indications. I remember way back when there were actually ...

This is the JAG USB adapter I have.

Re: Apple IIgs core

I will third (fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh?) this too ;) The IIGS was a pretty unique computer. It did not have a ton of games (well under 100 IIRC) but it did have some gems. It had a really awesome version of Rastan. Interestingly enough the two other 16-bit computer contenders of the time (Amiga and Atari ST) never got a released port of Rastan...

That's great! I will have to test your cores. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, as far as I recall you would activate the red/blue on those NES titles with start+select. It's been so long but that is what I remember ;)

I have a real Jaguar and a few controllers. I had no idea a USB to Jag controller adapter existed to be honest. A bit pricey, but when I have the funds I will certainly test this. Good idea!

Re: Most Compatible BIOS files for MegaCD Core?

Odd, region free bios works fine here. Yeah, very odd. I figured it would be "easier" and "cleaner" to have one region free BIOS as the default. Theoretically it would have been, but not a single region free BIOS would work. They all initlally acted like they were working, but after that Sonic chime and Sega logo, hard freeze. ...

Re: 3D Glasses Support via Anaglyph (3D Movie Red/Cyan) Glasses

The person who wrote the Dega emulator (Dave) is also the person who wrote Final Burn....which later was taken over and became Final Burn Alpha (FBA) years later. When Dave added this to Dega back in 2004 I was mesmerized. I was sure it would be copied and added to all SMS emulators from there on, but it never did. Not even libretro has it. Dave ce...

Re: Most Compatible BIOS files for MegaCD Core?

Regarding the region free BIOS, I have tried all I could find online and no matter the version, the game loading freezes right after the Sega/Sonic intro right before the game is supposed to launch. Not a big deal as not I have resorted to official BIOSes per game folder (whatever region they need). But I am just curious as to why the region free B...

Re: Colecovision Keypad Keys?

What would be nice if we could map the number pad to the keyboard! and not the joystick. This exactly. Is there any reason why it cannot be implemented to allow the numpad keys of a keyboard to be mapped to this and other systems that used the number touchpad on controllers? Even with the best of controllers it is not possible to have enough butto...

Demon Attack runs very strange

The Vic-20 core for the most part is very nice, but there is some weirdness going on with some game titles. I know I have seen this in other games, although I can only recall one at the moment. If you play Imagic's "Demon Attack" its almost like it is pausing and unpausing rapidly. It does not play this way on real hardware. On a real Vic...

3D Glasses Support via Anaglyph (3D Movie Red/Cyan) Glasses

Can this possibly be added? I have only seen this implemented in software emulation once with an emulator named "Dega": https://segaretro.org/Dega I am really surprised no other emulator (that I know of) implemented this code. As many are aware (or maybe not) the 3D games on the Sega Master System required a pair of 3D shutter glasses and...

Re: What Does "BIOS Enable" Do?

I was actually quite surprised as well not to have the ability to allow the SMS BIOS to launch before a game. Instead we have this static Sega logo...which I have never seen before. On a real Master System, the SMS BIOS would come up with the Sega chime before the game. Or, when you turned it on without a game, the BIOS would run and then run into ...
