Hi guys
I get this message since I changed to external USB SSD.
What did I miss?
And how can I unmount drives?

Hey guys. Has anyone been able to get Sam and Max Hit the Road working with Midi? I have an MT32-Pi that works with everything else, but not with this game. The options are present when launching, but don't seem to kick in properly. After searching around it looks like a couple people highlighted this issue a while ago but no one ever followed up with a resolution. Thanks!

CD-Audio isn't implemented in the AO486 core. I left the options there for when that does happen.

Hello @flynnsbit, i just installed Top 300 DOS Games Pack on my MiSTer and it work well (I only have some problems with the video resolution but never mind).
My preferred game "The Dig" is only in eng but i have iso/img of EU version with eng, ita and others.
The question is, can i add this in some way or (better) can i add a choice to run first or second one?

First off, thanks so much Flynnsbit for putting this together. I finally got around to setting this up & am loving it. I've run into a couple of issues -

I can't get any sound to work for DOOM no matter which sound option I pick.
Full Throttle intro seems to work but at any point after that the game just freezes on a black screen.
The same thing happens with Monkey Island 2, will play for a bit then just freeze.

Curious if these are known issues & if not how I can fix those!

Cheers,
Corey

@ siskavard : did you try the regular version of Doom and not just Fast Doom ? (I have no sound on Fast Doom but no problem with the regular version)

Do any games work without freezing?

What speed is your ao486 core running at? The default speed at startup is 90mhz. You can choose to run at lower frequencies of 15mhz, 30mhz, and 56mhz. You don't need 90mhz to run Monkey Island 2 or Full Throttle. I've played Monkey Island 2 all the way through without any issues at 30mhz.

Good luck.

No sound on either version
Also did you use the update script to pull down all the changes to the pack from the initial release?

You are using my DOS boot VHD as well? (This would set the SB BLASTER settings to the same setting that DOOM is expecting.

That's all I can think of, the pack should be plug and play at this point...

My next question is how to add games that aren't on the list - I put 2 games into the /cd/ directory but they don't show up in the list

Are there any plans to include Deathtrack(1989) in this pack? It works more or less OK with 15 MHz L1 enabled, but without music (although music used to work ~2 years ago)

Does Blood and Shadow Warrior not run properly? Surprised these two are missing in a Top 300 DOS compilation. Anyways, thanks for the effort, I've been using this and playing Sim City 2000. I feel like a kid again. Cheers.

The only proper way to check IMO:

1) Taken from the AO486 specifications

Code: Select all

486DX33 performance (no-FPU).
2) Visit mobygames.com and search for your game, then select the specs tab.

Code: Select all

Minimum CPU Class Required: Intel Pentium
3) Comparision

Code: Select all

586 60mhz vs 486 33mhz
Conclusion: this game won't run well :(

Is there some config option somewhere to enable gamepad support? I've already setup and mapped my gamepad in MiSTer and for the ao486 core. Can't traverse the menu or use a gamepad in games.

If gamepad is not working in TDL, try and exit out of TDL, press any direction, and then go back in and see if it works. I believe what may be happening is that the joystick calibration/detection routine fails unless you do that first after booting.

Grand Prix 2 is in this list and got me all excited.

Loaded it up and it really isn't worth bothering with. The game runs at about 3 fps.

And how about CHD? (If it’s just a matter of running scripts to convert images, I’m fine with doing that as long as I don’t have to update 300 DOS scripts) 😄

CHD is already there, you just have to convert the existing files and leave them as the same name and the launch script will automatically detect and mount the CHD instead of a bin/cue ISO. I think there are some scripts in the forum that people built for that.

As an example, here is the dos script for Command and Conquer: :RAA
CALL imgtry ide10 D "/cd/comconra/redal1.chd" "/cd/comconra/redal1.iso"

It uses imgtry script to mount either the chd or the iso depending on what is over on in the mister /cd/comconra/ folder. So no need to touch the dos scripts if the file names stay the same. Thank Freddo and bbond for that setup.

flynns, i still have my last exoconverter game list, but i have no idea how to export these structure so its compatible with the new mymeny game folder, because the mister export option adds the pre-menu, will there be a exoconverter release for use with my menu?

Yup, that is exactly what will be needed, ExoDOSConverter needs to be updated to drop the long file name folder of the game into the VHD now instead of the 8.3 conversion it does today. it's something on my list of things to do.
