I tried DOS/32A but it didn't seem to work with either C&C.EXE or RUNGAME.EXE (which C&C.EXE seems to wrap). It could be my lack of knowledge with DOS/32A. Is it possible for a DOS/4GW executable to be "unpatchable" with DOS/32A?
You can "unbind" the *.exe using the DOS tools that come with DOS/32A. If the DOS4GW file is separate from the game exe you can just rename dos32a to dos4gw & replace it (if I forget correct filename forgive me, it's been ages). The dos32a had a fairly simple document with it explaining usage, have a read. It's worth learning how to use it as there's so many games that it applies to.

If you're really stuck I'll have a look & see if I can create a quick usage guide but I need a refresher course myself! You could PM me the executable file & I'll see if I can "unbind" it but might have to wait a few days till I can use PC again (severe nerve pain is stopping me).

I got C&C working but it was a bit odd. I don't know why exactly this works but rebind Game.dat using DOS32A (sb -r Game.dat) This will spit out a file named Game.exe. Rename that back to Game.dat and then launch the game using C&C.exe as usual.

Someone reported Pinball Dreams 2 as compatible on the list - how? Neither it nor the original does anything more than black-screen for me when trying to launch a table.

I believe that was me...

PD2 is working fine for me (sound seems slightly off, but that's all).

@NightShadowPT - Can you please share your OS (MS-DOS 6.22?), CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT from a working run? (I originally thought this was perhaps a refresh rate or resolution problem, but I forced down to 60Hz in MISTER.INI and the ao486 config and it didn't help.)

What about PsychoPinball?. Someone has been able to pass the menu?.

Everything seems to work OK until you load a table.

Depends on how you installed C&C is my thinking. If you just copied it over from an already installed directory (like something from ExoDOS), then I could see this needing to be fixed this way. If you installed it from mounting the CD image virtually, then this would be weird behavior, yup.

@NightShadowPT, I'd be interested and really appreciate also to know your autoexec.bat and config.sys that you used for pinball dreams 2 because I've just tried on my side with different settings and I always end with a black screen once I select a table. I for sure have something wrong configured but I do not know what.

It's the same behaviour when you install from CD. C&C.EXE and RUNGAME.EXE are just wrappers - the main executable is GAME.DAT. You can rename to GAME.EXE and the game starts. Very odd! :-)

Anyone able to get sound/music working in Secret of Monkey Island? The game is supposed to auto-detect (no way to configure sound settings). I get no sound at all

I'll compare this evening the differences with my set up, I fell, seeing your autoexec that it is a matter of QEMM wrong configured on my side, I've also just noticed, thanks to the compatibility list, that for this game there is a comment saying : "boot1_opensource.rom (black screen otherwise)", maybe I do not have the right boot1 for this game, this is another point that I did not think about. Anyway, 'll keep you posted

Yes, I just added a second comment. I'm running the regular Boot1 rom, not the opensource one and it works.

I've just tried PD2 by changing my setup in order to stick with your config.sys and autoexec.bat and this doesn't work. I then changed the boot1 by the opensource version and also went back to my previous set up and bingo, the game worked as it should. Well, this does not answer to my question, I still do not know what causes the problem if I use the "normal" boot1.rom (last version).

Anyway, thank you for your help and also to have reminded me that the opensource version of the boot1 was existing.

Things I've learned about Pinball Dreams 1/2:

- Choose Soundblaster. Not 2.0, not Pro, Soundblaster. Otherwise, you will hang when you try to select a table.
- 70Hz mode sucks. There's nothing I've been able to manage so far that doesn't judder like hell.

Does "Magic Carpet" really work in-game? I can see the nice intro, the menu, but when I click on the spinning planet sphere to start actual gameplay, the game stalls forever in the loading screen (showing the CD), never getting in game. There are even youtube videos of this game running on ao486, but I don't see it working with the current version... Using DOS 6.33 here.

Didn't try the game myself, but there also was a floppy version and from what I read about the game running in Dos Box the CD caused sometimes problems where the floppy version worked.

I have tried the floppy version and does exactly the same thing, except it shows a floppy instead of a CD :lol:

I tried the ExoDos version and it seemed to run fine (only played for a minute or so). Setup of this version is straight forward, just copy the MagCarp folder to your VHD and run carpet.exe.
