I couldn’t get the scaling setting to match but regardless l, how is it we’re seeing different areas of the screen? Like, on the MiSter you see more of the ground and the second pipe is cut off. On the original hardware you see less ground and more of the pipe. Seems like the mister is centered the Mario when he should be more to the left.

They are the same rom. I copied my roms on my everdrive when I setup my MiSTer.

You can adjust the screen with the settings "hide overscan" and "crop offset".

Eh its not just overscan. You can see Mario is under the multiply symbol on the NES whereas on Mister he's almost escaping the life counter.

Have you mismatched NTSC and PAL somewhere along the way?

Without knowing how the screenshots were staged, that's meaningless. Depending on whether the player moved left or right prior to taking the shot, Mario's X position can be different.

Yeah, the score and time are different too! How is that possible?

Yes, it's really not a good in-game place for comparisons, because of the movement (regardless of the fact that OSSC's settings might be interfering). You should try the title screen or better yet, 240p suite.

For what it's worth here are some original ones: Famicom AV on a Trinitron via just composite

That's the way the game works. How much of which side of the world you see depends on how far you walked onto that screen and back.

Here's the two photos overlaid on one another. As you can see, there's clearly some 5x cropping at the top/bottom as expected. But once we align the HUD at the top, you can see they're the exact same width. Mario's positioning and the pipes are almost certainly different because the screenshots were taken after you moving Mario in different ways.

Yeah the rule is you can't scroll left in Mario 1. So I feel like I've been successfully trolled.

What device did you use to copy your own nes rom? Was thinking about creating backups of my real nes collection. :geek: I used the Retrode to copy Megadrive and Super and but it bricked. :ugeek:

So this guy is selling his Cart Save and Rom Dumper sometimes this Spring

https://twitter.com/CartridgeReader

I would follow their twitter for announcements.
So far only Kickstarter backers and review units gone out.
Then they are opening orders for Japan only, before going global for sales.
It is my great regret that we live in an age that is proud of machines that think and suspicious of people who try to.
