Uzebox Core?

Unread post by Kannibal »

Has anybody heard of Uzebox? It was/is an open source 8-bit console that anybody could develop games on. Most of the projects on this little console were in the style of public domain demos similar to the ones found on commercial consoles, but there have also been several great games made by the community for Uzebox. Considering it is open source, there should be no legal challenges regarding making a Uzebox core and would probably be welcomed by it's owner since it would preserve their platform in an immediately playable state. It's probably not worth much other than a curiosity core to most people, but I think just bringing awareness to it's existence is more than enough.

I've never heard of this before, looks like a fun DIY project, although I can't find any links to buy the kit (looking for the EU one).

Presumably could be made into a core for MiSTer, if someone wanted to have a stab at it.

The North American kit is discontinued as well on the Adafruit website but they do have other odd Uzebox accessories available. Anyone wanting to try out a physical version of this project would have to solder their own kit out using the schematics which are on the Uzebox website. I'm really hoping the schematics on the link are enough to build a core out of, but if the core developers need more info to go on then at least I brought awareness to the Uzebox.
