Jotego core updated with new memory controller: good news

Unread post by jca »

Some of his cores (Tiger Road, Bio Commando) had messed up sprites when using a Winbond 32MB memory, making them unplayable. The new memory controller solved these issues.

Do the rfb files get updated at a later date? The Mister directory on his github show commit from 8 days ago, but no updated releases yet.

Yet another example of how all the hubbub over the supposed "bad memory design" was actually down to manufacturers using x5r capacitors instead of x7r, or using winbond instead of alliance (which sorgelig tells them not to), or cold solder joints, or other things that will vary without quality control of each manufactured component (as it's a DIY project).

I'm glad he's going out of his way to support even sub-standard SDRAM modules (which the average user isn't aware of them being substandard to be fair). This is good effort.
