Sega System 16

Unread post by seastalker »

I recently heard about news of an upcoming Sega 16 core. This I am most excited for. This and newly released CPS1 core will be must haves. Other future games I will look forward to possibly play:

Sega System 18 (Shadow Dancer, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Alien Storm)
Power Drift
Thunder Blade
Golden Axe II: Revenge of Death Adder
The NewZealand Story
Puyo Puyo (series) [Japan]
S.T.U.N. Runner
Sunset Riders
Hard Drivin' (series)
Pit Fighter
APB
SMASH TV
TMNT
XMEN

Is Hydro Thunder/Arctic Thunder too advanced?

Yes, MrX_8B is working on a System 16 core. This is great news, Teris will be working in the first release but it will take time to get other titles running.

Has anyone expressed an interest in doing New Zealand Story? Would love to play that.

I have it in my wish list above, but I am sure you mean actual talented people AND inclined to make a core of it. :)

I was digging up the specs on the System Y board (Power Drift) and holy heck it has three m68k's on it. Do we have enough room on a Cyclone V to instantiate three of them and all the sprite hardware?

Didn't Outrun use System-16?

Would love to see a core for that.

The System 16 hardware is my favorite Sega arcade hardware (with the Sega System 1 hardware a close 2nd) and I will host a party when it is released. Of course it will be just me at that party, but I will certainly have beer!

Outrun is a little different, being on Super Scaler hardware, though a lot of it is similar to System16 as it's from the same era. Thunder Blade is also Super Scaler. It'd probably be an easy next project, but won't be the same core.
