EDIT: Wifi is working now. Not sure what changed; I power-cycled a couple of times and left the system running for awhile. Don't know what I did to fix it, but just in case that helps anybody who has a similar issue I'll leave this up.

Hello,

I just bought this wifi dongle: TP-Link TL-WN823N N300 Mini USB Wireless WiFi network Adapter for pc, Ideal for Raspberry Pi,Black

I've made sure that /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8192eu_nic.bin is present, and I've changed _wpa_supplicant.conf to wpa_supplicant.conf and added my SSID and password to it. lsusb shows the device:

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 2357:0109
And if I hook it up to my desktop and run lsusb, it gives me additional identifying information:

Code: Select all

Bus 002 Device 102: ID 2357:0109 TP-Link TL WN823N RTL8192EU
But I can't get it to connect.

Code: Select all

/root# wifi.sh
Failed to bring up wlan0.
Any idea what the problem could be? Any steps I missed, anything else I should try?

Let me know if you have any suggestions; thanks.

May I ask a noob question? How exactly do you get rtl8192eu_nic.bin into the /lib/firmware folder? That folder doesn’t show when I connect my SD card to Windows
