Recommeded filters for different cores?

Unread post by crusher talos »

Hey All,

Just wondering what other people's recommendations for filters with their cores?
I never was a fan of scan line filters when emulating but with the mister it can make games really shine.

I have seen some of Smokemonster's recommendation and I basically follow that.
In general, I use scan line (bright) with a gamma poly 2.5 setting.

Maybe there are better settings for specific consoles?

Last I checked, the included "bright" filter variants have linear (or mostly linear) transformations with no (or inadequate) rolloff at the top end, resulting in clipping/loss of highlight detail.

I made a thread here about modifying the "bright" filters to have a (more) gradual rolloff: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=594

Wow!

Thanks so much for making that post. Super helpful.
Ill have to test it out myself. The images make it super clear on the differences though.

Cheers!

Here is a link to one of Smokemonster's videos.

He sometimes mentions his settings that he has for his cores.
In general, I very much recommend his channel if you are not familiar with him.
