What other retroesq games do you play on newer systems?

Unread post by grizzly »

I do not mean newly released games for NES/Amiga/C-64/CPC/ZX,MiSTer, for older systems that is.
UNLESS you do prefer to play them on never systems when they are released there too!

And it has to be games that are retro inspired that looks/feel like they could almost have been made for a retro system.
I´m not sure if we should allow source ports or not i let you decide that.
If yes i have been playing a bunch of the DukeNukem3D and wolfenstein3d different source ports and they work so damn good.

Now the first and a fantastic racing game.
Art Of Rally

It is sooooooo damn good!

Absolute Drift

From the same guys as Art of rally and was the game before that.
Still good but not as fantastic as Art of rally.

Ion Fury

Newly made game using the Build engine, which powered DukeNukem3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior.
Good game but was a while ago i did play it.

CloudPunk

8Bitesq game that probably is way to beautiful looking to be in this tread.
But it´s so relaxing/gorgeous looking and fun, could not imagine being a lowly delivery driver/pilot could be so fun/relaxing.

My first time playing it i had only seen some pictures and it look good so installed it without knowing anything about the game.
And over 12 hours later i looked at the clock and went to bed!
It´s many years since a game did that too me :o

So i guess slightly "better" games can be allowed too but limit them to only one.

glad to see more rally fans.
living in the states, rally racing and rally games are kind of rare (where they seem to be commonplace overseas).
im a big fan of RBR with mods & dirt rally 2 :)

as far as retro-esque games, i would probably recommend the ones that are already popular

shovel knight
dead cells
enter the gungeon
moonlighter
undertale
hyper light drifter
cross code
blasphemus
the messenger
owlboy
celeste
