Hey. The last couple of months, I've been recording old games on my MiSTer and putting them on YouTube. My plan is to post a couple of new MiSTer videos every week. They all go into this playlist:

Cool! What's your capture setup? I've been interested in doing this myself but have no clue where to begin. I just have a laptop and plug my MiSTer in either to my (LCD) TV or computer monitor.

I run the MiSTer HDMI output through an Elgato 4K60 S+ (a standalone device that records to an SD card), recording in 1080p 60FPS. I've tried recording stuff in 50FPS, but it caused issues, so I mostly stick to 60FPS for now. The recording is cropped and upscaled x 2 using ffmpeg. The upscaling is to get a resolution than 1080p, which in turn makes YouTube encode it in nice quality.

Thank you! I'm always recording games from whatever weird retro rabbithole I'm into right now, so the selection is a bit random. :D

Yikes, cool product but quite a bit out of my budget. Good to know a standalone product like this exists though.

Great videos! I've been trying to record MiSTer footage but I'm finding I get a lot of horizontal screen tearing in the recorded footage. I set my ini file to use sync = 0 @ 60hz, thinking that would solve it - it DOES seem to work but there is still some tearing after a while of recording. Do you mind sharing your recording settings? Cheers.

I now have 62 videos in my MiSTer playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... GPxZz1t-SY

One of the latests additions was this one with Street Fighter Alpha, Alpha 2, and Darkstalkers on Jotego's new CPS2 core:

Try 720p output on both ends (mister.ini and the capture input) or 720p --> 1440p capture to mitigate the shimmering of dithered parts like at the top and bottom of your Street Fighter Alpha 2 video. I've messed around with it before, and I saw decent results awhile ago, I need to revisit that and find a good setting. I use a USB Magewell HDMI Gen2 capture card and it's also excellent for this.

Channel looks great though! Good job!

Thank you, but you have to help me - I don't see the shimmering at all. Can you give me a timestamp on the SFA2 video where it's very obvious? Is it present even in 1440p?

Yeah that might be my issue, just realized that I was watching a 1440p video on 1080p. My bad X_X

Great, thanks. Execellent choice for R-Type!! The conversion on the SMS is really good. From time to time I do play to Super R-Type as well especially for the music.

R-type is one of my favourite games of all time. Hopefully we will get the arcade version soon on Mister

I'm with you on R-Type, it's also one of my all-time favourites! I would absolutely love an Irem M72 implementation for MiSTer. That way, we could potentially also get Mr. Heli, Image Fight, Ninja Spirit, and XMultiply.

And I agree, I never played that SMS port before, but it is really neat.

I use one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daS5RHVAl2U

Cost me 8 euros and it seems to be working fine with 720p @60fps without tearing and v-sync = 0. I play on a CRT and record from HDMI. Low lag for me and I don't need a HDMI output on the capture card.

I also sometimes share a OBS preview screen with Discord and show games to my friends.

I just added a full playthrough of Metroid, a bit of Jackal with the amazing rotary joystick controls, a few Game Gear and Wonderswan games, and some dubious fighting games. Take a look and leave a comment! :)

Since my last post I have uploaded a bunch of videos, most recently a test recording of the WIP PSX core. The next 3 days I will upload a PSX recording every day:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... GPxZz1t-SY

Inspired by Microsoft's latests big purchase, I recorded a bunch of Atari 2600 games developed by Activision: https://youtu.be/q2H11BC-its

Apart from these, I've added some 'base attack' games (Desert Strike, Raid on Bungeling Bay, FireHawk, Fire Power), a few of my favourite golf games, as well as random Genesis, SNES, and arcade games.

Please take a look and leave a comment. 😀

Hi, I was wondering what .ini/core settings you're using for capture?

I get occasional drops from my capture for a few different cores, the PSX beta core seems to drop a lot during boot for me.

For Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHmcd7fjdHc

Thanks, keep up the nice work - just subbed to your YT, btw!

I'm sorry, I missed your reply. I can see you captured some more games from the PSX core, did you figure out your capture drop issues? Otherwise, I will be happy to find my ini settings

I have 130 MiSTer videos up on my channel now:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... GPxZz1t-SY

Among the newest videos are a bunch of shoot 'em ups for the Amiga, R-Type and related games:

https://youtu.be/rTF_65jZuCg

Some Commdore 64 shoot 'em ups, including R-Type, Uridium, the *incredibly* mean (but cool) IO, and the brand new Empire Strikes Back game by Megastyle Games:

Also a test of the 32X core:

I have kept adding MiSTer game recordings to my list, which now contains 200 videos.
This week is PSX week, where I post a PlayStation game recording every day.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... GPxZz1t-SY

I recently added Street Fighter Alpha 2 playthroughs with every character, and a full playthrough of Chuck Rock for the Sega CD, possibly the best version of the classic Amiga game:

https://youtu.be/lGyGXkOuolo

I also played some of the unreleased NES port of SimCity:
