Daemonbite vs. MiSTer fork for DIY retro USB adapters?

Unread post by savyzzyz »

I'm looking into making one or more DIY USB adapters for NES and/or SNES. Most discussions lead to Daemonbite's Github repo:

https://github.com/MickGyver/DaemonBite ... ollers-USB

But the official MiSTer wiki page for Selecting Input Devices links to an "official" (?) fork at:

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Retro-C ... USB-MiSTer

The "official" (?) MiSTer fork is considerably different from Daemonbite's...some parts ahead, some parts behind. I may dig into the code to make more sense of the differences, but perhaps someone can shed light on this faster...

Is one repo better than the other?

For BONUS points: The code for the "SNES" adapter appears to support both SNES and NES controllers, and appears to do autodetection upon startup. If this is the case, why would anyone bother with the NES version?? It seems completely redundant.
