hey there,

these are the ones ive bought, and would recommend.
noting, this version has the V2 reinforced USB port, versus the top mounted USB port
(top mounted V1s are sensitive to movement and break easily)

ATmega32U4 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HCXMBOU
Monoprice USB Cables - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001U3SU8U

I have a bunch of the McGyver used arduinos coming from china but grabbed a few of the ones I linked above to test but noticed the layout is different so wondered if they were even compatible.

Yeah that is so expensive, they were $5 when I got the Pro Micros however, anything from China will take months, like 6 months or more so patience or more money.

Try ebay I found this https://www.ebay.com/itm/191457509365

And https://www.ebay.com/itm/284475378554

You can get cheaper ones shipped from china but I caution you at this time with government caused supply chain / shipping problems. One other thing if you are going to get on buy multiple ones don't just get one you will make more than one. I made 3 already and am working on my 4th today. I have a Arcade stick with working coin mech, Genesis and Nintendo NES adapters and am making a SNES adapter. I cannibalized extension cords for the ports. If you have any further questions let me know I am more than glad to help anyone along.

yes, that was my reasoning for getting them from amazon VS china (how long shipping would take)

but, the ones linked in your ebay listings are the top mounted V1s.
while those definitely will work for daemonbite projects, i would urge people to get the V2s with the extended solder legs.
which will safeguard you from accidental dropping/knocking the USB port off

I have the device wrapped up in electrical tape and it is so light falling will not damage it. While strain may be a problem if you have a long enough USB cable it won't matter as it will be resting on the floor and won't be strained. I am not worries and especially with the arcade board as it is enclosed in a box and protected.

Anyone know if the amazon ones linked in original post will work?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G99NNXL/

I have the v2's coming from aliexpress but have several of these amazon ones on hand but the pinout is different so don't know if they will work.

ahh, those are ATmega328P boards, where the daemonbite firmware was made specifically for ATmega32U4 boards

im sure a skilled programmer could port mickgyvers firmware over to the ATmega328P,
but as of now, you need them ATmega32U4 boards

on a side note, i wish these triple controller adapters were a thing before i started down the SNAC road - https://www.tindie.com/products/timvill ... b-adapter/

as of lately, my SNAC is barely used in favor of daemonbite adapters (i need a menu button)

i was so convinced saving ~0.7ms using SNAC would help with my SMW kaizo games, but no, it really doesnt.
im sure a robot could tell the difference betweem 0.7ms and direct input from SNAC, but i cant

Thank you! That's what I needed to know. I got my 32U4's in from China but wish I had ordered more now lol.
