MiSTer FPGA VGA to component CRT, colors are off

Unread post by hrechkaness »

So I just got my VGA to component cable in today and tried testing out Mister FPGA on my component CRT tv and the colors appear to be off. On areas that are supposed to be green its more of a purple tint. Colors seem to vary per game but they seem overall just flattened compared to hdmi or svideo. Most tutorials seem to tell me to turn on SOG switch but for my IO board it seems to work with it switched off.

Here are what the images look like:

I have seen people posting that it could be a bad IO board but when I tried with Antonio's VGA to composite/Svideo adapter, the colors seemed fine when I went to Svideo on my TV. Only issue with Antonio's adapter is the dreaded dot rolling. Might there be some settings I have wrong in the Mister.ini file? Or do I have a bad IO board for component output?

I followed this guide for my Mister.ini file settings:

Nvm, I found another post on here that identified the issues I'm having.

Here is the forum post that mirrors my issues:

I also have a IO board with 201/471 resistor array. RIP

These incorrectly manufactured boards seem to originate from Retroscaler / Bitfunx based in China, they are then sold through varied retail channels usually AliExpress, Amazon and Ebay either directly or via resellers.

I bought the board off amazon.

Anyone know a place where I can get a working IO board with component output? I'm think I will just keep the kit and replace the IO board.

Bought everything but the DE-10 from MisterAddons.com and the component works great, U.S. based so hopefully not too bad to import to Canada.

Good to hear! Looks like they are currently sold of of IO boards, I'll have to hop on their email list for when more are in stock.

I posted about the same issue with a board I got from a local reseller here in aus on eBay viewtopic.php?p=40532#p40532

Just got a new board from https://ozmistermods.com/collections/ex ... board-v6-1 and works great. So thought I’d mention if helps anyone on this issue of the globe.
