Extron Box for RGB

Unread post by deepthaw »

I’m working on modding my Trinitron for RGB. Going to install BNC jacks.

Would this be the appropriate device to do horizontal centering (if needed) for the signal? Would I just run a vga cable from the IO board to the box, then BNC to the tv?

That particular extron has a 9 pin input, not 15 pin VGA style, so you'd need an adapter of some sort. I would recommend the RGB 109xi. it has an attached VGA cable that you can plug directly into the IO board, and it has horizontal centering controls. I use one with the MiSTer and it works great. There are several cheap ones on ebay right now.

Please note that the Extron RGB units output a TTL level sync signal, which is probably too high of a voltage for a consumer tv. Therefore, you should put a 1k resistor in series on your sync line inside of the TV to lower the sync voltage.
