That's interesting. I have a C9, so I guess there is some difference between the two for it to work on one but not the other?

By they way, what is the benefit of running at that resolution over 1080p?

Same problem here guys...

I've tried the following on my Acer ET322QU 32" FreeSync monitor and all I get is "snow", but the monitor's information display correctly shows 1920x1440@60Hz. Not sure what's gong on, but it certainly is frustrating.

;video_mode=12 - SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle)
;video_mode=1920,48,32,80,1200,3,6,26,154128 - SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle)
;video_mode=1920,32,32,50,1440,4,5,26,180000 - SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle)
;video_mode=1920,8,20,20,1440,2,4,3,170000- SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle)
;video_mode=1920,48,32,112,1440,3,4,39,184828 - SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle)
;video_mode = 1920,48,32,80,1440,3,4,34,184750 - SNOW (Locks up MiSTER and have to power cycle)

I'm currently using video_mode=1536,48,32,80,1200,3,10,22,125674 which was provided by Atrac17 for use with the NES core.

Of course the standard video_mode=8 works just fine as well for 1920x1080@60Hz

Maybe I’m answering my own question here, but from what I’ve read on the Atari forums, it appears as though the MiSTer’s pixel clock is limited to 165MHz over HDMI, which is how I have my monitor connected. I’ll see if I can dig up a VGA cable tomorrow and try to see if that solves the problem. Does anyone have a custom modeline for 1920x1440 at 60Hz whose pixel clock is less than or equal to 165MHz? Is such a thing possible?

It still doesn’t answer why I’m having problems with the 1920x1200 resolution though as that pixel clock is 154MHz.

From Atari forums...
* 20MHz : Minimal frequency set by the MiSTer software
* 150MHz : This is the designed frequency target for the scaler, to support 1920x1080. The scaler was optimised to get [almost] no timing errors at that frequency.
* 165MHz : This is the maximum frequency supported by the ADV7513 HDMI encoder.
* 200MHz : This is the limit set by the MiSTer software.

No luck with the VGA connection. I still get snow and a locked up MiSTer when trying to achieve the 1440p settings. VGA worked fine for the 1536x1200 resolution (same as the HDMI input). So now I’m left to believe that there’s either something wrong with the miSTer settings, or the monitor.

Monitor is displaying the correct resolution and timings when the info screen is on, so that’s good.

MiSTer requires a power cycle after each snow screen, so that leads me to believe that it’s not the monitor, but the settings.

Set fb_size=0. Main Mister crashes if you set fb_size=1 with higher than 1080p resolutions.

I think LG first introduced 1440p for the C9. I can't get 1440p on the C9 to work either. Is this a LG firmware issue or a Mister limitation? I can get 1440p to work on the Nano90 just fine. Makes me think this is an issue with LG's firmware for that generation. Thanks.

Probably LG problem to be honest. I think the CX series has got it working properly for the first time. At least thats what I heard

According to RTings.com both the C9 and CX support 1440p@120 natively and can be forced to use 1440p@60. It may be a recent firmware added 1440p@60 native support to the CX though.

They describe using a forced resolution in Windows:
We do this by creating a custom resolution in the NVIDIA Control Panel, then we change the Timing to 'CVT reduced blank' to reduce bandwidth. If unsuccessful, we then try 'CVT' and 'Automatic'. Finally, we check to see which resolution is active. Note that if the timing is set to 'Automatic', it can sometimes show that the active resolution is 3840 x 2160, even though the signal sent is 1440p.
Seems a custom MiSTer video_mode setting could do something similar.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

Technically, there shouldn't be anything preventing the C9 from doing 1440p60 (it works on PC), as it has the exact same panel a the CX (which works fine on MiSTer in 1440p60).

I have an LG E6 OLED and I'm having the same issues Zorlac is having. 1920x1440 works on my PC, but not for MiSTer.

I did notice something interesting when I was fiddling with my TV settings. If I turn off the setting HDMI Deep Color, I can only choose 1920x1440 @ 30hz in the Nvidia control panel. When I turn HDMI Deep Color back on, 1920x1440 @ 60hz is available to use. Apparently, HDMI Deep Color has something to do with the HDMI 2.0 specs. Both my Nvidia card and the OLED tv are HDMI 2.0. I believe the MiSTer is an HDMI 1.x device.

Is it possible that the HDMI Deep Color setting on my TV may be causing problems with the MiSTer's HDMI interface when attempting to use 1920x1440 @60hz?

Anybody revisiting this thread I got these settings working well on my LG OLED C7 with game mode set to 4:3:

video_mode=1920,48,32,80,1200,3,6,26,154128
vsync_adjust=2
vscale_mode=5

Quick update: I had to switch to vsync_adjust=1 for the PSX core.
