So far all I have is the rbf in the usual folder and a bunch of HDFs. Is this like the AO486 where it needs a boot rom? Also, I'm running mine off of primary sd since a kind soul provided me with X68000-JT51_20200913.rbf I suspect the midi32 rbf works as well? What else might I need to get the core started and running some games, finally am I good to run all X68000 titles off my primary sd? I'd like to avoid getting a secondary sd for now since my primary is 1tb and it's yet to even touch half.
Yes put the boot rom in the computer folder along with the rbf. And then load up x68000 , where it mentions hdf load up using that option, run hdf files from the normal games x68000 folder. Then hit reset and apply in the x68000 menu to load up the hdf.
Appreciate you trying to help.

So I did get a screen with some text in placing the boot rom in the Computer folder so that's a plus. When I went to load up Street Fighter 2 hdf using the mister menu I couldn't find a reset and apply option anywhere on the menu screen.

You sure there aren't anymore files I need to add? For this core the only thing in there now is the boot rom being X68000, the rbf, and the hdf games.

I find this to be a very confusing system, but I got it working using the rbf posted on the previous page of this thread, with just the boot rom and an image file. I don’t have an IO board so I’m not using a second SD card. There’s no “reset and apply” option, you just select the hdf or d88 file then choose reset (last option on the first page of the OSD).

You should use the core posted in this thread eralier by breitziger

It is the most recent built and it has the best compability, this version also labels it as "reset and apply HDD". No 2nd SD card necessary. As far as I understand this version of the core doesn't support MIDI.

Yeah thx guys I finally grabbed the download from one page back.

Had some trouble at first but works like a charm! Going to test some games. Say, if I ran update all wouldn't that replace the rbf I downloaded with the official beta. As I understand it currently that version has more problems. Just wanna know if I should hold onto breiztiger file incase update all tries to revert me back to the official beta.

Lastly, is there a way to get 6 buttons on Street Fighter 2? When I try to adjust it in mister control osd it only let's me map 4 including select.

At the time of me writing this Final Fight crashed after 5 minutes. Seeing how this is a beta I understand if this issue is known?

And the mouse is working in 2021112, at least in SX-Window, the mouse is moving and clicking. Haven't tried any games yet, but at least looks like the hardware setup is there.

Lord, I spent the last few days doing down the x68000 rabbit hole... I can't believe I didn't realize how bad ass this thing was. How well does this core work? How complicated is the setup? I might start trying to get it operational on my mister if it's not too bad.

I found this newest version to be very easy.

Just pick the relevant .hdf, and then select "reset and apply HDD" and then you're in. Configuring controls etc exactly the same as the other cores

But if I try with this video mode:

video_mode=320,8,32,24,240,4,3,16,6048

I can get decent graphics in a CRT. Then is not possible to improve it?

IMG_20211112_165840.jpg

IMG_20211112_170518.jpg

I was able to get correct sizing on a 15 KHz TV with these .ini settings :
[X68000]
vga_scaler=1
vsync_adjust=1
vscale_mode=0
vscale_border=0
video_mode=1024,116,72,160,256,1,1,3,20400

These work on my Toshiba 14AF46 without anything being unevenly scaled.

Many games are 256p or 240p and have stuff in the overscan area, but I'm able to use the service menu to change the V-size to see virtually all of it.

You may have to mess with H or V front porch/back porch in the modeline to center it well for your TV. The H-size/V-size and phase in the service menu gets most of the way.

You just dump the x68000.rom into your computer core folder, place all of your X68000 hdfs files in games folder, load up your preferred game and hit reset and apply from the OSD menu. In some cases it's just reset.

The last rbf I discovered sound problems with some of the Capcom games mainly Street Fighter 2 and Final Fight. Here's hoping this latest file addresses that! At the same time though, I'd like to express my gratitude for posting such a AWA all devs involved in making the core, file it means a lot!

A few games I tried were not playable as missing a layer of sprites (Nemesis 94, Phalanx) and some others have various other visual issues (Xadlak, Die Bahnwelt), but I would say 95% of everything I tried ran perfectly.

X68000 went from a core where things kind of worked but had problems to where most things work. Afraid I'm not familiar enough with these games to spot some issues. Those hdf files are easier to work with than the floppy disk images. I am seeing floppy games work now that weren't working before, but it's just slower to start, which I presume is the speed of the original hardware.

So, I tried this version of the core and upon booting all I got on screen was a lot of animated glitch at the bottom third of the screen.

This was to HDMI.

I chose an RBF and it loaded and instead of seeing the game I got a mess again at the bottom of the screen but in colour.

The one I have had best results with (but still wonky sometimes) is X68000_midi_20210306 .

There still is an issue with the input, I can't get some games to recognise either Joystick or keyboard inputs, e.g. Afterburner II. I don't know if the X68000 had 2 joystick ports ghat had to be swapped ot if this is yomething else not working.

I haven’t tested it yet, but I had the same issue, and it looks like Afterburner 2 uses mouse as the input. Try that?

Sadly MIDI only works in some titles, Gradius 2 for example (you can listen to all tracks in the sound menu)

Others get stuck when you switch to the MIDI module or music starts. Examples: Etoile Princess or Dai Maikai Mura.

To get controls to stick for specific games, define controls in the options save and hard reboot. That's how I got the controls working for Strider.

That's interesting, I tried it and these 2 games didn't work for me either. I tried Cyberblock and this worked so I assumed they all work. I wonder if it is because Cyberblock targets an SC-55 module specifically, while Etoile Princess and Dai Maikai Mura don't mention a designated Midi hardware.

The core doesn't read files with the dim format, you have to convert them to d88.

On discord one of the devs mentioned midi board interrupts not being implemented correctly. I guess there are several ways to send midi data, and depending on the game the method works or not (yet).

Can anyone confirm if the sound on the Capcom games are working? The only thing I can get working are music and picture. For instance whenever Guile does a Sonic Boom or Sagat punches someone I don't hear any of that however the background music plays. Final Fight has the same problem, Strider plays fine AFAIK.

Also, is there a 6 button layout I can apply to my SNES Blisster controller with the Street Fighter games on here or is it keyboard only? Not a deal-breaker I have the CPS2 core, would just be cool to get it working on here as well so I can compare and enjoy version differences.
