To the best of my knowledge doesn't this need a secondary sd card to run? At least that's what the github is saying. It's ashame I won't be able to use my 1TB card in the primary sd but all cores are different and this is no exception, if anything watching this video makes me wanna dump up my time table for purchasing a second sd card to sample that Gradius game.

Thanks for sharing! She really did this core a solid.

The original author of the core has been releasing updates via his blog, and at some point it stopped requiring the secondary SD card. I'm not sure which of those changes have been merged into anyone's repo.

Can’t get Akumajou to work with the two floppy images. Any special configuration required?

I'll google around to find the repo you're talking about. So far the one I keep seeing is the main one from the link in the video that asks for a secondary sd.

Will the core be able to autoboot custom HDF images that are configured to boot directly to the game?

I was able boot a hard drive with the X68000 core. The core doesn't format, but I was able to make one in the XM6 Pro 68K emulator and mount that in Mister. There does seem to be a size limit to the volumes, looks like a limitation of the original hardware.

I tried the core dated 20210528 that's floating around, and was able to load floppies and hdd images as shown in OP's video. my /games/ is loading from a network share. I only have one SD card in the mister.

Doesn't work at all? I mounted floppies 1 and 2, did the in-core reset, and it loaded.

However, after selecting mt32 for the audio driver, it took more than a minute (had to wait for song that plays to end) before the game would actually load up. Thought something might be wrong, but let it sit and play, but it did eventually load.

@stupid dufus
Do you have a link or source for the 20210528 rbf anywhere?
I have the 68000 beta running OK on mister, with bugs of course, but the core I have is over a year old now.

I have of course googled.

Sure thing. https://mega.nz/file/HvZxCY6Z#RQAhfVk8J ... qlpbyp1_VI

I found that from the comments of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QdTOYMLGzA

x68000.rom goes in /media/fat/bootrom/

I didn't have to do any setup other than that that I recall

You're right. It works. Just have to wait about a minute or two. Thanks!

Can anyone please post an empty HDD image?

Note that with these highly repetitive patterns, it's often possible to re-compress the compressed file.

Sorry for the confusion, when I posted the link to the other topic I was in a rush and did not have to explain. The X68000-JT51_20200913 core is not the core mentioned in the video of the current thread, it is from another developer and I posted it because this core does not use the secondary SD card. It is a work in progress but nothing new in over a year. There is a video about it with useful links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZP0IawW4wU&t=2s. It was made when the core still needed the secondary SD card. As noted above the rom goes into /media/fat/bootrom and the sram.dat file has to be renamed sram.ram.
Regarding the video at the start of this current thread there is a link to Kitrinx repo, the rbf is 4 years old and I did not manage to start anything after mounting disks. There as been some changes 3 months ago and I tried unsuccessfully to build the core. Regarding the core from May 2021 I did not know about it and do not know if it is based on Kitrinx core or Mr. Puu core, I will try later today.
Again, sorry for the confusion.

There is a core complied with the JT51 sound chip from Jotego available. Can't remember who did the core or which core its based on but it does run quite a lot of things reasonably well. Its a single card core too, well worth checking out. Doesn't do MT32PI from memory.

I had time to test the May 2021 core during lunch time, it is not from the Kitrinx core but from the Mr. Puu core and has support for MT-32-Pi.
Regarding Akumajou you need to have patience: 4 min after reboot. Does this game need MIDI? I get sounds but no music.

Edit: what I said may not be correct, after watching again the video posted at the start of this thread it looks like the core has been modified and does not look like the 2017 core from Kitrinx repository. I also remember a post several months ago saying she was now using the Mr. Puu core, I am not 100% sure but I think it is what was posted.
So the question is: who developed this May 2021 core?

This is all very confusing.

What core exactly is the video showing? And does it require a second SD card?

Such detail would have been good in the video.

Yes, the video posted at the beginning of this thread does not say much. The Gitbub link is for the core developed by Kitrinx but the latest rbf is from 2017 and is totally different from the one shown on the video. Kitrinx made some changes 3 months ago but I was unable to compile it.
On the other hand Mr. Puu developed his own core which needed a 2nd SD card at the beginning but now uses the regular SD card. He has not been working on it for a long time but I remember a post saying Kitrinx was taking over this core to finish it so it is difficult to know what is happening. But someone is working on it so we just have to be patient.
If you want to try it without a 2nd SD card you can use the X68000-JT51 or the one on mega.nz. The JT51 is the Puu core with someone changing the sound chip to one developed by Jotego and giving much better sound than the original. For the one on mega.nz I have no idea where it comes from.

The one from mega is an interesting version, it allows to switch the 68000 between TG68 and fx68k. From what I tried I would guess it uses the Jotego sound chip as it sounds as I remember the JT51 version of the puu core sounded.
The version from mega runs more games then the September 2020 version in the X68000 thread. I got Space Harrier working on it, all other versions of the core I tried had trouble detecting the joystick rendering the game unstartable, with this core it works flawless.
Unfortunately I didn't get Chase H.Q. to work in this core either. This one gives error messages while booting the game, previous versions of the core got ingame.
Did anybody ever find an HDF version of Chase H.Q. on the X68000?

empty.zip, extracts to empty.HDF. I load this one from SASI option, then reset. I'm using X68000_midi 21/03/06. X68000 hard drive boots as A: not C:

is the X68000 RBF from Rysha. This is the latest one , it supports Mt32 and does not need a 2nd sd card.

I can't access the Discord link. Is the core available anywhere else perchance?

I have trouble playing with Puu-san's X68000 core. The keyboard gets stuck when I'm typing in the command line of Human68K. The cursor still blinks but the keys stop responding. It kind of reminds me of what happened with the QL core before MarcelK fixed it.

@cathrynmataga thanks a lot for the image!

Hi !
Yes, I do. x68000.rom is present at /media/fat/games/X68000

I even have renamed to boot.rom and same result.

When launching, what I get is a black screen. The OSD works but when loading any HDF... nothing happens or simply the screen of fault disk.
I deleted x68000.cfg in order to see if something changes, but same results.
My MiSTer is Up to Date, any clue ?

Sorry I dont read Japanese so no idea whats wrong.

I just start the core and it boots into a console style screen, then I choose the Hdf or floppies and rest to apply from the menu and the game loads.

If you turn off the MiSTer and wait for few seconds, then turn on again, at first attempt the core loads and works. But, HDF's are still showing error and non working messages.
If you change the HDD , apply and reboot, most of cases you got a very nice black screen :-)

This test version have a lot of problems, if you change the core and later you try to load it, it doesn't work anymore.

There's a version X68000_mt32pi_May 28th 2021 that seems to work fine but the mice don't want to work ;-P

Anyway, thanks a lot.

I do not usually give up easily, so I have changed the RAM expansion and everything has worked as you said on the first try.
The only downside is that the mouse doesn't work.

Does the same thing happen to you with the mouse?
