CD support hasn't been implemented yet, judging by the blurb on Github. I saw a post where he mentions creating snapshots on his simulator for testing on the MiSTer box.

Someone once told that creating a PSX Core would require a team of people.
The reality is being proved otherwise by this incredibly talented developer. Just WOW!

This is an insane amount of progress. Only the CD and SPU are completely missing now.

Awesome! Will we get SBI support, or do we need to find cracks of the affected games?

that is quite some progress, even though the 2nd sdram module is required for now on the horizon it might be even possible to go with a single module?!

so the general thought is that dual SD ram will be required for the PS1 core.
both from the core developer, and rumors of saturn requiring this as well.
if i had to guess, i would say CPS3 will also require dual SD RAM

the response to people who use the analog IO board is that you will need to get a digital IO board
(if SNAC and user buttons/fan are needed)

if thats the "new" suggested setup of the MiSTer, im fine with that.
but, i want to confirm what SD RAM is recommended?

Jotego found that the 32mb RAM is actually faster than 128 modules and can run at ~150mhz, where the 128mb runs at ~130mhz.
i dont want to buy the wrong one, so my question to @FPGAzumSpass @Jotego @srg320 is which RAM is required/recommended??

Get standard official designed SDRAM from a trusted seller, like MisterAddons for USA or Ricardo(Ultimate Mister) for europe. Avoid any non-standard designs and you wont have to worry about it. 128mb is fine and it's what most mister owners have, so it will work for any official core.

also wait until it is actually needed before getting dual sdram.

Also can confirm Ricardo, it's where I got mine and it is perfect.

i hear ya, and im hoping these new cores wont require a new MiSTer setup

yes, it will soon work with only 1 32mbyte stick without sound. What will happen with sound is unclear, but there will be no need for 128mbyte sizes sticks very likely

Strange, I am unable to use both slots for RAM on my DE10-Nano. The slot that's used for the IO board doesn't work with RAM. I've tried my 32MB and 128MB in the other slot and they both work, but neither work on the slot where the IO board was setted. Anyone knows why?

How do you test that it works/don't works?
Did you insert the right direction? (as the PCB states: this side faces outwards)
All other cores don't make use of it.
e.g. you can't use the gameboy core with sdram only in the "analog board slot"

Overall, please don't start a hype for a second sdram.
If I wouldn't have made the whole development public, this testversion would have not been public at all, i would have waited until CD data comes from Linux.

Using the second SDRam is a very dirty quirk i made for development purposes only, it will be removed asap.

When I plug either the 32MB or 128MB in right slot (when facing the DE10-Nano from the front), the main MiSTer core will show a 1/4 RAM icon or a full RAM icon respectively.

When I plug either the 32MB or 128MB in left slot (when facing the DE10-Nano from the front), the main MiSTer core will show an empty RAM icon and I am unable to load ROMs from most cores like the SNES one.

I just want to try this BETA core for myself, but I want to know if there's a setting in the INI file to make the left slot work with a RAM stick or if there's simply something wrong with my DE10-Nano, that's all, I'm not trying to start anything.

You need to flip the SW3 switch on the board.

I just tried every switch with just a single RAM stick in the left slot, but nothing worked.

To test the PS1 core:
- Have the RAM you regularly use in the first slot as usual
- Add extra RAM to the second slot, with the side marked "facing outwards" facing outwards
- Flip SW3

To run other cores:
- Remove the secondary RAM you added for testing
- Put SW3 back to its original position

Still doesn't work. Read on a Twatter post that my 32MB RAM stick is too old (had the 3 pins on the chip side or something). Oh well, thanks anyway, gonna wait for real deal.

That's totally correct. The core(e.g. SNES) cannot switch the ram slot it was build for. It will just see the empty slot and makes no use of the second slot.
The pins to be used are fixed and are not switched around depending on what you insert.

Switch 3 is used to tell the core you have a second SDRAm inserted, so you don't send RAM data to Analog board.
It's a safety feature.
