Hi Guys,

i am using a RPI4 with the MiSTer MT32-Pi Hat v2.1

Everything is booting up and working in the Display

When I am starting the AO486 Core the Mister Logo does not come up and the Menu is missing.

Any Idea how to debug this?

Chriz

The github page for setting up the mt32-pi with MiSTer is an excellent place to start, make sure you have setup the .ini files correctly on the RPi micro SD card. The length of the USB3 cable you use is also important, less than 30cms is recommended. Also check which IO board version you have as early IO boards require modification to work correctly, this is also mentioned in the setup guide linked below.

I had a similar issue with my mt32pi. OLED would display, but MiSTer wouldn't recognize it the device.

Silly as it is, turned out to I wasn't plugging the USB cable fully in to the mt32pi itself. Ugh. After I pushed it in just a bit further everything worked.

Try that I guess. Ensure you have a good cable.

Insufficient power from the USB perhaps due to a wrong setting in INI? I had that problem myself.

Do you have an eBay/AliExpress IO board? If so, you may have pins missing on the IO board, see blog post below (not my site)

It seems the V6 Board from Ali is not suitable. Just ordered another from UK

...had the same issue.
It was the cable. One line was broken.

I had a similar issue with mine, I could not get to work, tried multiple cables and everything. No display on the OLED at all. My MicroSD card came formatted FAT32, and when it didn't work I reformatted it to see if that was the issue. Sadly, it did not fix the issue. I even tried multiple SD cards. I was starting to think my hat got damaged in transit from the UK. Then when searching troubleshooting I decided to triage my PI 3A+, and I went to the Raspberry Pi page and downloaded the OS installer from there. That program formatted the SD card and installed the OS on the card, including creating the necessary partitions.

Knowing I was in over my head, I stopped there, deleted the partitions and reformatted the card. On a whim, I copied the MT32pi files back on the SD card and inserted it back on my Pi 3A+, booted up MiSTer, turned on the hat and voila! Magically the OLED screen on the hat came to life! It's been working like a charm since.

My take on it is that when the RPi install program formatted the card and created the partitions, that ended up cleaning any leftover data that was causing some issue. Even though I had used guiformat, for some reason that alone didn't do the trick.

Long story short - cables are frequently a problem, but also make sure to check your MicroSD card.

SpotAnime, I'm having problems too, my MT32pi is not recognized by Mister and the screen doesn't turn on, do you have the exact link of the program that formatted and installed the operating system on the card?

You should not need any Pi based formatting programs.

0) Format SD Card as FAT-32. You may need a formatting utility if you are a Windows user (see the wiki:https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi/wik ... reparation)
1) Get the latest release from Dale's github and save/unpack to a convenient directory
2) Edit the mt32pi.cfg file (see wiki: https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi/wik ... tion#setup<-- YOU MUST DO THIS!!!!
3) Copy the contents of the githib dir and config file to the root of the sdcard
4) Eject card, insert in the PI and boot. should work.

If you need a pre-edited config file with common MiSTer options set for the standard MiSTer MT32pi , you can get one from my website: http://www.legacypixels.com/docs/mt32-pi.cfg

Friend, I correctly configured the "MT32-pi Wiki" including a friend gave me the content of his SD Card that he uses perfectly in his Mister, so the problem with the "mt32-pi.cfg" is not, follow the photo link of my I/O purchased on Aliexpress!
