Strange Behavior N30 Pro 2 Bluetooth Controller

I have a N30 Pro 2 bluetooth controller paired to the orange 8bitdo bluetooth dongle. When in the define joystick buttons part of the set up, the analogue sticks are not recognized, which prompts me to by pass them by pressing space on my keyboard, but when completing the set up, both sticks register up, down, left, and right inputs as if they were set up correctly. I wonder if it is registering analogue inputs as d-pad inputs. Has anyone experienced this with this particular controller or bt adapter?

Is the controller in x-input mode?

Press and hold SELECT + UP for 3 seconds.

Alternatively try updating the firmware on both the controller and dongle via 8bitdo's website.

I have it on Switch mode (Start + Y). I've tried all other modes with same result. I will note that on another 8bitdo dongle using the same controller, I do register analog inputs on set up. I believe it is usb dongle associated. It has the latest firmware. Thank you, btw.
